I have been a short time member, only a two or three years. This forum has been many things over that time for me. A wonderful resource for solutions to problems, to ask for advice and opinions, to just read and laugh with someone, and many other things to me.

I feel that I have received a lot out of it, and I have added a little to it. Those more experienced than I help me, and I help those less experienced than me.

I work in the computer field full-time. I work a 70 acre farm in my spare time (what little there is). I cannot always get my seat time in. This forum is a very valuable resource, if not for anything else than a way to relax and get away from the daily job to dream about seat time on the tractor.

I had just purchased my first "mini farm" (5 acres) when I stumbled across TBN one during a busy day at work :D I had been toying with the idea of needing a tractor to mow grass and do other odd jobs. As a wheelchair user I didn't know if this was a possibility or not, but after reading some of the posts and getting educated on various tractors, I finally got up the nerve to head down to the local John Deere dealer and within a few minutes, rolled away with the keys to a brand new JD 2305...small enough for me to pull myself up onto yet powerful enough to do just about everything I need to do....including wiping out several fence posts with the FEL :p I don't post very often but rest assured I read just about every post from others! What a wealth of knowledge and opinions! Thanks TBN!

There are so many great parts to TBN;

Viewing other members projects taking shape.
Requesting help for various problems specific to your rig.
Asking questions about implements or techniques.
Price checking on the next toy you're thinking of buying.
Looking for sources for parts you're having trouble finding.
Getting some inside information from the many dealers that frequent the boards.
The overall spirit of the helpful people that are always available.

Post a problem at night, check back the next day for some really good and maybe some not so good solutions.

It's a great forum.

My wife and I are also new to both TractorByNet and hobby farming. These forums have been a true blessing! We stumbled across them as we reseached a tractor we were considering purchasing. Because of the forums, and the wonderful people here, we avoided making a costly mistake. We've also been able to save money (and stop pulling out our hair) with the advice on how to work on and maintain the equipment we already have. Now we wouldn't think of going anywhere else for news and advice! Keep up the good work and congratulations on having over 1,000,000 posts!

Take Care,
Mike

There are two things that have impressed me about TBN over the years. The good people on TBN who have such awesome experience, knowledge, and maturity. And TBN's psychic ability to pop up discussions about topics I just started to think about or study.

Just this week I ordered a book on heritage Southern apples along with another book on how to make cider. I get home and check TBN and a discussion showed up on....

Making cider. Which is the only thing I could think to do with the apples if I planted a few apple trees.

One night I was reading some discussions about the new Ford diesel trucks. The next morning a post shows up on TBN asking questions about the new truck which led to some very good information that was not on the other site.

TBN is pretty danged good about a whole bunch of different stuff.

Later,
Dan

TBN was one of the only forums with much information about Mahindra Tractors when I was in the market for a new tractor a few years ago.

Thanks to those who maintain this valuable resource.

Tractor By Net is the best tractor forum out there. I love the information interchange. Sure beats learning everything the hard way.

The opportunity to share with others, a common interest. People that would never meet, let alone tell each other about our conquests and blunders.

Educational, and very inspiriational,... (in a tractor sort of way).:D

What a great topic for my first post. I have been a lurker here for some time and find this site to be a great community of similar minded people willing to lend expertise and support to each other. This board has helped me to solve problems and make buying decisions for my iron addiction. I look here for interesting posts every day. Thanks TBN!
