Let's hope that Saltman, his family and friends and property are OK. That is first and foremost.
When I heard, a few days ago, that 500,000 had been evacuated, it was staggering. A half-million people. wow.
Out east we had the 2nd worst drought on record. It made me think about brush fires and such. But it's harder for the lush green areas to burn especailly with the summer humidity we get.
I have been out west many times, So Cal, Nevada, Arizona, etc.
Their air is dry, very little or no humidity. The sand and rock won't burn, but everything else is pure tinder! A lit cigarette, a careles camper, some lightening is all it takes to cause what we have just seen. Let it serve to remind us all to be careful with fire, especially in these dry arid areas known for their fires.
After our drought, it made me apprecaite the abundance of water we really have in the east. As of this writing we have gotten 2 to 4 inches of rain, and it will end tomorrow. It will take a long time to make up for our rain deficit, but it's been nice seeing the grass turn green again.
I already knew why they had a requirement for those tanks. Now I think a lot more of America also knows.
Let's hope Saltman can check in with us, maybe in a fe days, maybe in a few weeks, and let us know how things are.
