10 hour grease job question

From reading this thread I decided it was time to grease my FEL. The grease was so thick I couldn't get it primed in order to pump it with my standard type grease gun. I had to start a fire in the wood-burner to heat the gun and grease up to about 80 degrees. It is a lithium grease recommended by Deere and comes in tubes. Does that sound normal? 50 degrees in shop.

Yup, normal. Grease dosent move well in the cold. Do you have a air bleed-off you can open while its pumping? If not, just take in the house tonight and let it sit, then try it again in the morning. I bet it will fix itself.
I usually pack grease up into the head before i shove a tube of grease in my grease guns. Helps get the air out and start pumping.

I told my son about how everyone is raving about Milwaukee over Dewalt. He said his employer and a bunch of the guys he works with (home builders and renovators) said Milwaukee is great but they all went back to the new Dewalt drills. Said they have more torque.

The top end Dewalt are tough to beat. I was about to switch from Dewalt to Milwaukee a couple years back when some of my older tools needed replacements. After reading many apples to apples tests and comparisons, they favored Dewalt. So I stuck with yellow and started buying 20v Dewalt. I look for the 'Made in USA' models, as it seems like they are their best tools. I really don't think you can go wrong if buying either red or yellow.

Seems dewalt had been slipping for quite some time, hopefully they got their act together and started building good tools again, and going to the 20v battery packs is a big plus.
If they make the dewalt`s in the USA, i`ll try them again someday, but right now, the red brand seems to be working better for me at the present time.
And the red brand seems to fit & feel better in my hands than the yellow brand does.

Yeahhhh, the USA models are a bit better than their cheap chinese knock-off`s for sure. But for now, the red seems to do the job better for me.

I’ve got over a dozen pieces of Dewalt mostly construction. The only thing where the red really cleans house is the cordless 1/2 impact. And my Dewalt does good enough.

I also like red; red hair (mostly white now), red tractor, red neck, red a**, and now red cordless tools.

I recently purchased a M12 Milwaukee heated camo jacket that heats front and back and also heated pockets because my fingers get numb from the cold.

Then I purchased a M12 caulking gun (mostly for more batteries/charger and to redo some chinking of our log home).

And then came some great deals this year for example, M12 2 drills, 2 batteries, and charger for $99 at Home Depot...

At my age I am really liking the light weight and small style of these M12 tools versus my Dewalt 18 volt tools (most are almost 20 years old).

Some other assorted cordless tools that I have are Makita, Hitachi, Black & Decker, Hitachi, and Ryobi (really like their garage door opener), but Dewalt use to be the go to tools and lately I am using the red tools...

If you hold it on I致e never had a single one of those problems. I致e actually never had a single one of those problems with the regular coupler on my Dewalt gun.

You've never had to yank a grease nozzle off of a zerk? That's the whole reason I bought a lock n lube. I had to pull so hard to get my grease gun back that grease went flying everywhere.
