I grease mine every use. I'd rather have grease blobs all over it, than worn parts.
I use my manual gun on the tractor, but I have a Dewalt Max 20V Li-On grease gun. I went that route because I already had bought my son a bunch of Dewalt 20V tools so we had the chargers and batteries.
But if I ever had to do it again I would buy an Alemite. They have a display on them that tells you how much grease is left in tube. I love that idea.
I hate it when I crawl under one of the dump trucks or machines and the grease gun runs out right after I start.

I haven't used my Son's Milwaukee, but in conversation what I understood is they can set the number of pumps and preset the speed??? Maybe someone with one can verify that?
My DeWalt is pretty basic. I've squirted a gazillion tubes of grease thru it. Only problem I've got is the slot in the bottom end cap and the groove in the plunger are getting worn. It will prematurely release some times when changing tubes. That gets ugly.

I don’t see the desire for a preset amount. Some pins get greased in a pump or two and some take 10.

My snowblower has one that the recommended amount is 2 pumps. I have NO idea what that is on my electric one, so I just leave it on for a second or two. It would be nice to know.
Milwaukee has some really neat tools and seems to push things forward in the industry. I just have so many dewalt batteries I keep buying their tools. It's a viscous cycle. :confused3: :laughing:

Yes. Like when I do my slack adjusters and cam tubes on the big trucks.....don't need a lot of grease but that 20V Dewalt is so fast it is hard to control. It will do a whole lotta pumps in a matter of 2 seconds, LOL. That's why I keep the manual gun for the Kubota and atv's.
And they are strong. One the truck we just replaced I had a front spring pin that suddenly quit taking grease. I tried jacking the truck up by the frame, tried greasing it warm, cold, etc. No way.
Then I got the Dewalt. Hit the trigger and there was a pop and away it went. My two manual guns would not do it.
