10 hour grease job question

Whenever i`m done with any of my equipment, i hit them with grease after i`ve used them.
That way they`re stored with fresh grease and flushed clean and already lubed until the next time i need to use them.

My reasoning is, i just hook stuff up and go, no worries and no wasted time because i already did a pre-check an lube when i parked the equipment.
Yup, kubota moly grease. No worries using their oils-filter-lubes. (warranty reasons)

Kubota pistol-grip grease gun is what i use. (good exercise for the hands!)
I`d like a cordless one but i dont feel i need one.

Same here re: frequently greasing; don稚 always remember to do it, but bottom line is that I don稚 wait for ten hour intervals

My electric grease gun saves my arms/shoulders so much and as mentioned greasing is almost fun now. I don't use the grease gun enough to justify buying it really but I'm not sorry I bought one.

I treat the 10 hour ones as ridiculous and just do everything at 50 hours, except skipping the driveshaft Ujoints on the JD because I cannot do them. Just have them done at 200 hours.

Only two 10 hour ones on the JD are the front swivel joint and one of the tie rod ends. That's like about 300 to 500 miles on a car/truck. Ridiculously short period. The old period on most car/trucks (before we had the silly Utility Vehicles) was 1,000 miles.

So I have 10 hours on the bx2380 and the manual said to lube the loader and I believe other fittings as well. Is that something that is strongly recommended or more so if you do heavy leader work?

Also any specific grease gun or will any one work and what grease should I use?

Every 10 hours just add grease until you see it flowing out the joint. If you were doing a lot of loader work the joint will take more grease. Less work, less grease will be needed to get to the free flowing point.

Grease is cheap. Preventative maintenance is a heck of a lot cheaper than fixing problems caused by lack of maintenance a.k.a. ABUSE.

Base it on your use as mentioned above. If I am dragging a baler around the field what is the point. If I am using the loader a lot then maybe every couple days. If you have it out in rain or snow, do not neglect it as a dry joint will fill with rust and clog the grease fitting to the point of needing to disassemble and correct the issue.

Another thing I do is to "unload" the joints. That for me involves putting the loader on the ground and applying slight pressure with the arms then "unload" the bucked by tilting forward with causing the boom to lift further then greasing. By doing it that way you fill the actual friction points of the fittings with grease when in use.

Pistol grip guns suck. Get a lever with just a piece of pipe then the coupler. 10hrs would be a max when using the loader.

A grease gun with a rigid pipe sucks!!! So does a lever gun. Personal preference.

I have a Dewalt 18v Grease Gun. I was on the fence for a long time, but I知 very pleased that I finally took the plunge. I was already married to Dewalt痴 batteries, so that痴 the primary reason I went Dewalt.

Me too. I bought mine as a "tool only". Think I paid $110. Worth every penny.

I keep a needle coupler on the end of my old manual gun. That's the only time it gets used.

Out of the 30+ zerks on the grapple, FEL, tractor, 3-point & rear blade, I have ONE problem zerk. It's on the FEL. I have to rotate the FEL to get the zerk into proper alignment. Then it accepts grease easily. I have three types of grease guns - hand squeeze, lever(2) and electric. Each has its place. I have a needle coupler on my rigid pipe lever gun.

LOL... i have to agree... :thumbsup:

Kinda sucks when you have to remove the MMM out from under the tractor to grease it because those ridged pipes are hard to bend...

Sometimes, you get in a tight spot, that lever gun handle wont go full stroke ...flex hoses & pistol grips on grease guns are the best thing since sliced bread!
