Slippery I thought I answered this the other day. The rotello is made for trucks which they figure run about 1/3 throttle 1/3 load, is that where you are running your tractor? I like fixed weights, I'm **** enough I don't like idiot lights and I do like manual gauges and seen the muti weights break down to the lowest weights in farm tractors as well as high performance engines. They both often run at full throttle full load conditions, the cars only briefly for the most part but the multi weights do break down to the lowest weight. You spent the time to put in new bearings in an engine that normally will go two to three rebuilds without having the crank turned, why did it need that? From running a muti-weight oil?

Afternoon Slippy,
I just scrolled through some of the pics you posted of your new 1086, what a nice piece of machinery you got there ! Parts availabilty is no issue with those machines and what I have heard are very dependable !

Good luck with your new tractor !

I had forgotten to mention the tractor in question, NICE!!!! Just a question, you got me thinking why the rod bearing change?

On the use of the TA, remember that it is a TORQUE AMPLIFIER, that means when you are using it under load that you pull it back not to use as a brake! They often with operators that use them right go well past the hours your tractor has when used properly.

I had a pre purchase inspection done by IH dealer. Ask him to pull the pan and take a look at the main and rod bearings. Mains look fine, but he said the rod bearing where just starting to show wear. So, I went ahead and had them changed. Probably could have gone without it, but with the rest of the tractor being in such good shape, wanted to keep it up.

Don't understand your comments about the TA. I purchased an operators manual and it does not say much about it other than to pull it back to engage and push it forward to disengage. Disengagement will increase the tractor speed. I have not tested it yet, but I understand that with it disengaged, the tractor will "free wheel". Therefore, if it is being operated on a hill, the TA should be engaged to keep it from running away.
