1000 Hours and counting

That is a lot of hours for a small machine. Getting these types of hours is almost more a testament to the usefulness of the machine than it is the reliability.

That motor probably uses about 3 gallons of gas per hour, so that was about 3000 gallons of fuel. That fuel cost about $7500. Holy crap!!! Good reason to get the diesel right there, lol.

My PT425 uses nowhere near 3 gallons per hour. I have run it at full throttle for 8 hours on less than 10 gallons on several occasions. It is closer to 1.25 gallons per hour.

I also run about 1.5 gallons/hour when mowing...but, it's good to see 1000+ hours type of a posting as we seem to more often than not post when we have problems. With this many hours are you guys seeing any engine oil usage? I've noticed lately that I'm down about 1/4 qt at oil changes but I see no leaks.

I figure I use around 1 gallon an hour on my 422 and on my 1845 I probably use a little less than 1 gal. per hour mowing. Neither of my machines seem to need any oil added between oil changes.

I'm scratching 1800 hrs on my 425. Its 5 years old I think. I changed the engine at 1200 hrs. and have changed pretty much everything else on the machine. I think the frame is the only original thing left. It is used by my employees though. I was looking at it today and it has multiple leaks under the steering wheel that we can't seem to fix, but she keeps on trucking and while she's not as strong as she once was she is still useful for soooo many things.

I bought mine used. At the time it had 1500 hours on it and I have put about 300 more on it. It was used by a landscaper before me. His employees were hard on things and this one has been on it's side once. Luckily I didn't pay much for it and I haven't had too much trouble with it.:thumbsup: As far as i know it is the original engine.
