I just took delivery of a 1026R with a FEL, turf tires, and grill guard. I had been looking for about 2 months at three - Kubota bx2660, a Mahindra 2516, and the JD 1026R.
On monday I decided for a number of reasons to go with the 1026R. Stopped by the dealer on Tuesday and he had the tractor here this morning (Friday).
Even though the dealers usually check everythng I spent about an hour checking everything over carefully. I found that the transmission was not even reading on the stick, the oil level was about an inch below sticks bottom. Fortunatly I have a 3720 and several quarts of oil so I fixed that up ( dealer said he would replace anything I used). I also found that a c ring is missing on the spline end of one of the three point upper arms. I do not think it can come off, but will get that from the dealer even though I have one in my supply.
Other than those two items everything looked OK so I put about 2 and half hours on it
Loaded up the bucket with gravel several times, and it handled the load just fine, no problem filling and lifting.
I have lots of hilly land and my 3720 with a cab is OK on the flat areas but get on some of my slopes and it is a bit of a challenge. I had a 755 which handled all the slopes. The 1026 went every where no issues , up down, cross wise on some steep stuff all OK.
Next I hooked my LandPride RCR 1860 (about 600 pounds). I use this a lot with my 3720 cab - no dust!!. Other than I would have liked telescoping 3 point, every went on just fine. It picked it up with a bit of effort. Took on my driveway to set the hight. I got on the mower and the 1026 just barely wanted to lift off the front tires. Cranked it up and did some 6 inch grass with no problem. I then went out in a hay field along the edge, grass about 12 to 18 inches tall. I was surprised it went through but the mower deck was not clearing the grass at 4 inch hight. I raised it to about 6 inches and it went just fine.
Lots of power in this machine. In about three weeks I will hook up my Landpride RTR10 ( about 450 pounds) tiller and see how it does in the garden. The 3720 of course cranks the tiller no problem, the 755 was just fine also. Based on my experience so far I do not anticipate a problem.
So my first impressions are very positive. I was looking for a small machine to do things the 3720 with a cab just could not handle ie a bit too big. The 3720 is just right in the winter with the snowblower on the front and 800 foot driveway.
I know 2 and half hours is not much but other things I noted:
It was quite - more so than I thought it would be.
The seat and steering wheel fit me very nice ( one of the reasons for picking it)
the handling on the slopes is better than anticipated
controls are well placed.
No real negatives yet.
I need to see how easy it is to remove the FEL, the 3720 is real tricky ie can bust the glass on the cab real easy.
I am not going to use it for mowing I have a Kubota 326D.
Just thought folks would like an initial impression.
I attached some photos including the check writer ( ie the real owner who will be using this), and the operator.
