1026r mower question

hello all nice site here.Any one own 1026r with 54 mower.Any one have one that mower will not lock after you drive over mower on install.When dealer drop it off he said need to use mower and paint would wear off and it would lock would lock when install deck.Should of told he to bring it back .I have mower allot and still don't lock in place ater install.anyone can tell me how to fit it.

Have you left the mower on this whole time or have you hooked and unhooked it several times? I personally would be calling them telling them to fix it especially for the money you paid for it. It's a brand new machine, it should work like one.

I have tried it many times .This mower step up is joke.I have fight and get on my hand and knees.All you tube videao and john deere video about auto connect mower.No one showed you need to get off tractor and unlock all four mower wheels and unlock deck and drive off.that not too bad.install mower first need to get on your hand and knees and pull down rear mower arms and then drive over deck.fight to lock mower in place.pull mower back by hand and shake and pull and fight to lock it.then you need to lift mower relock all four wheel in place.So much for auto connect.Hope john deere see this.think before you buy.junk set up

Welcome to the forum mike, and congratulations on your new tractor! Have you conducted a search on one thousand series mower deck issues yet? There is lots and lots of info here and two other tractor sites. One thing that I found with my 54D setup, is that the mower lift arms were too wide to easily slide into the mower deck brackets. I simply bent the deck brackets out with an adjustable wrench. Now my 54D will latch and unlatch on even the slipperiest surfaces.

I don't mind adjusting my equipment to suit my needs. It seems most one thousand series owners would rather have a dealer take care of their tractor. If the latter is the case, then you'll need a good dealer to take care of you.

This is new unit.should not need to bent stuff to make it work. I think ****** set up. The arm should come down with pulling them down. It's funny the video on net don't all work need to install deck.I called dealer he said would need to pay him to come get tractor. This is my first and last John Deere. The dealer should not have to come get it. They just need to send someone out to fix it.

PM me if you are comfortable giving me your info including S/N of tractor and MMM. The AutoConnect works great IF the dealer sets it up properly. As far as independent lift goes your salesperson should have asked you how you planned to use the tractor and sold you the mechanical lift if you are not using your 3-Pt for something else.

He did not ask and sold me something didnt want. Jd should of make so many mower to stock.I was told by other dealer that mower are so had to get the install what they get.why do you want my tractor number

When ask dealer about deck not auto connecting he said was paint and would once cut grass with. Should of told me you bought junk and don't work like video. The video are not showing all steps you need to take install deck. Could not try one with deck. I was looking for year for 1026 and dealer never had one with deck. I can see why know

Not sure if this will help but the 54d auto connect deck does not come std with autconnect drive line connection. You do have to get off of the tractor to engage d-line if the deck was not upgraded the rest of the way with the auto pto connection. Youre posts here on this thread (and the other one) are a tad confusing though but it seems to me this is what you are referring to is that the drive line will not auto connect, correct?? This would possibly explain the s/n request?

I have auto connect deck . When I drive over deck the drive shaft auto connect but mower dose not. You need to get off and fight on both side to get mower to lock in place

Then dealer drop off tractor . The mower did not auto connect. Please do not reply if you do not own 1023 or 1026 . It's not set up or user. The face it . Over price junk

I think some of these replies have really "hit the nail on the head". Now when will we get some pics or better explanations as to the real problem so someone can chime in with a good fix.

sorry to hear of your problems.
one question i have, when you are trying to attach the mower deck,
are you doing it on the lawn, in a flat area, so the deck does not slide
forward so easy? more common with 54 than 60 as it is heavier.
if attempting on driveway, blacktop, concrete, you will have problems
with mower deck sliding and not fully connecting.
did the dealer provide you with all the manuals? if so, you may want
to be proactive and read thru the installation part of the manual and see
if you can understand the installations and double check the adjustments.
i know one trick was to make sure the front yoke assembly, when installed on
the tractor, should not be tight in the groove, maybe 1/4 inch of play there, i have
been told that helps the deck latch better.

i think you will find many owners of these tractors wouldn't call their equipment
junk, and if you truly believe that, maybe you should consider another option
or brand. one reply was trying to help you but you didn't seem to want to
cooperate, so if you want help, listen to the help being offered. if you just
want to complain, there are other forums that might be better suited for that.
