That’s the same filter and procedure as the smaller Max. Use a pair of vise grips not channel locks to clamp the fuel line hose off before the filter. Adjust them so that there’s about an 1/8 to 1/4 gap before clamping the hose so you don’t over squeeze and ruin the hose. Then use your channel locks to squeeze the clamp and pull the hose off the filter inlet. Loosen the vise grips and see if you have fuel. If you don’t the tank vent might be plugged(try loosening fuel cap) or the tank outlet is likely plugged. If you do have fuel clamp fuel line and remove filter outlet and see if you get fuel. If not replace the filter. Careful with the little o ring on top. The new filter doesn’t come with one so you either have to reuse the old one or buy a new one when you get the filter
There’s a couple dealers who sell online. Not sure about other brands but the motor is a Mitsubishi sl3 and is used a lot of different tractors and other applications. Might be able to cross reference.
ok thanks for the speedy replies. another follow up question. is there a good way to clean the bowl filter to at least get it going to move to a better storage area or even to try to finish the task in the vineyards until i can get the filter?

I got this info from Boolegger750 regarding the aftermarket brand fuel filters for the Max 28. Kubota matches a lot with this Mahindra brand of tractor - at least the Max 28.
Ok - i read the manual and the bleed air lines comes up later on re: any bowl or filter removal. that description is rather sketchy. filter cannot be cleaned. called the dealer 60 miles away and got sme young kid who said to bleed it differently and he too was very vaugue. never would tell me the filter # and if i could get one locally. then proceeded to i will ask about a mechanic going out there and how much and get back asap and still notta. the manual said i believe there was a shutoff valve - and i do not see one. and i have seen a few in my life but do not see one in an obvious position.
so i am going to have to save a grand to have it towed and totaly serviced and fix this issues. the price could be more but have to have at least that before i start this fix.
i am kind of ticked at the dealer kid... generally been pleased with the tractor. very pleased. so thanks everyone. will park it for a couple of months and then see what happens. an expensive lawn ornament. eh?
had a car totaled by someone rearending me at 40 and isn screwed me on the $. no vehicles after 2 1/2 months. been very sick and crippled. lost my dog after 4 months of 24/7 care and now a new older pup someone messed up. world class dog that i am dealing with. feet of rain this past 6 months and way behind on garden and firewood etc.
so this may help you see what i am facing laely. the worst year in 30 years or so.
ok possibly good news. kid never called me back in parts and he knew squat.talked to the owner and the head mechanic and the owner sending fuel filter and 2 rings and the mechanic said what to do and also could be water in the fuel and there is no shitoff and there is an autoshut-off as was mentioned before and the glow plugs setting with key bleeds the system too as such. so hopefully all will work out. this kid is an anomaly - he must be new. the good news is the general people i have dealt with the couple of times over the last 5-6 years are great. highland rim tractor - goodletsville tn.
chuck the mechanic is an old bird but knows his stuff. first time sounded a but trerse and ornery - but that is him and his voice. this time. much more patient. would not hesitate sending anyone their way! owner said not all has to e serviced due to hrs so should cost a lt less. trailering price loaded is most fair. in case anyone needs to know. wish me luck - hopefully get the filter on wed. or thrisday and get it in and working.
I thought you were gonna try to change the fuel filter.... I picked up one of the WIX filters for my Max 28 at O'reillys for $9.00. Seems like that would be worth a shot. Good luck...
hey thanks i am going to change the fuel filter - and the orings 2 as needed. will service it when i can asap. there could be water in there they said. or just dirty too. yes i did follow what some of you guys said. and there was wrong info in the manual about a shutoff which is not on this model afterall. i also wnat to make sure i am not like the rare person who show up at a garage with a boxfull of parts and say i tried to save money and fix it myself but here are the parts - can you put it back together for me pleeeeeease....?????
ha ha ha
anyway does the bowl screw off rather easily? the pleated filter? pull downward and just insert the new with the o rings properly fit into their repsective spots? thannks. i am hoping this will be a quick fix. i apologize for my maybe confusing posts. just functioning on 2 hrs a sleep for the last 5 months believe it or not... brain waves/patterns are sometimes sketchy. hope this clarifies your questions dobro
yeah its pretty straight-forward when you get the bowl off (unscrews). The filter pulls down if I remember correctly. I sure hope you return to this post and explain what you did to correct the problem - way too many threads like this that just die away without anyone knowing what the owner did to correct the issue..... Good luck!
