There's an enjoyment in rebuilding an engine that is often missed these days when everything is about cost. I've got an old cast iron 12 hp Briggs that has already outlasted half a dozen cheaper motors. It probably always will.

So I hope you do find those parts and continue posting about the rebuild.

One hint is that when you do find a site that carries the parts you need, I think you'll find that it is easier to find OEM and better quality parts if you order them part by part individually rather than as a kit. Gaskets may come as a kit, and maybe there is a valve and guide kit or carb kit... but for pistons, rods, bearings, and such you are generally better served by ordering the exact part you want individually.

Thanks for replying. Yes, mine is an old cast iron sleeve engine from 1989. It has really lasted and am a bit nostalgic about it. My nephew has a machine shop so I thought rebuilding would be a fun project for us. Now we just need to order all the parts and hopefully we can get it back up an running.
