After all plastic's made from oil - so birds of a feather?I’ve only seen issues with very old metal containers…
Sealed in plastic would seem to be a good bet regarding excellent shelf life.

My god man, do you know how long that oil had been in the ground before it was bottled?![]()
I'm not saying you're wrong, in fact I think it's probably fine to use very old bottled oil, as long as it's kept sealed and dry. But I do have a problem with your logic. After all plastic's made from oil - so birds of a feather?
Just think, all of the worlds oil fields where under water. My god man, do you know how long that oil had been in the ground before it was bottled?
Oil deposits formed over millions of years, with the majority of oil deposits forming during the Mesozoic era (252–66 million years ago):
Oil is a fossil fuel that forms when dead organic matter, like plankton, is buried under layers of sediment on the ocean floor. Over time, the organic matter is compressed and heated by the Earth's mantle, and transforms into hydrocarbons, which are chemicals made of hydrogen and carbon.
- Paleozoic age
10% of oil deposits formed during the Paleozoic age, which was between 541 and 252 million years ago- Mesozoic era
70% of oil deposits formed during the Mesozoic era, which was between 252 and 66 million years ago- Cenozoic age
20% of oil deposits formed during the Cenozoic age, which was roughly 65 million years ago
Just don't put it on your salad!![]()
Not to beat a dead horse, but try and diagram the Syllogisms you've presumed, then taken issue with.I'm not saying you're wrong, in fact I think it's probably fine to use very old bottled oil, as long as it's kept sealed and dry. But I do have a problem with your logic.
The crude oil taken from the ground has as much to do with the oil that you're putting into your crank case, as a field of wheat does with cake. It's a raw component, nothing more.
I'm not eating unprocessed wheat grain on my birthday, nor would I assume the 100's of millions of years crude has been in the ground has anything at all to do with the shelf life of a refined oil product.
Could have been. Which period are you referencing when you write 'back then?'Could the world have been warmer back then?
According to The Dictionary of Fine Distinctions, an argument is valid when it is consistent with its premises, To wit: All humans are green; I am a human; therefore I am green is a valid argument. Not to beat a dead horse, [but to bait trolls]. . .
