per the original sales flyer it says "At lower link hitch point 300kg(661lbs.), At 610mm (24 in.) behind lower hitch point 240kg(529lbs.)."
These are the figures that I believe. Forget 900-something lbs. Somebody wrote the manuals wrong.
Here are a couple of photos of the 4 ft disc on the smaller and larger Yanmars. And the 6 ft disc. The YM186D has nearly the lifting strength of the YM240 but the little tractor is so light, and short, that even with 240 lbs of suitcase weights on its front bumper the nose lifts and you lose steering as you reach maximum lift capacity.
However - its lift capacity is greater than working capacity. YM186D doesn't have the drawbar hp (traction) to do useful work with the little disc heavily ballasted, or the larger disc naked of ballast.
The first photo shows me finishing up around trees and borders where my neighbor's large tractor won't fit.
The HF Quick Hitch (65 lbs) plus a 30 lb chunk of steel on the front of the disc and two 40 lb blocks chained on was the maximum I could steer, and pull, with the disc offset a little to get the tractor tire away from the trees. Total weight 350 + 65 + 30 + 40 +40 +10 (chains) = 535 lbs.
The YM240 can easily lift another 6 blocks, +240 lbs, 775 lbs total, and pulls this fine.
Size comparison. Actual working dimensions 5' 4" and 3' 10".
