I’ve got a brand new RC3615 digging trenches in my pasture. I raise the bat wings slightly about every 10 minutes, but dirt is trenched before I know it. It’s making a mess of the pasture. Is this normal? Is there a way to prevent the batwings from dropping?

Are the wings in float?

Looked it up. I do not know if they are or how to change it.

"Float" means that there is no hydraulic down pressure; the lift cylinders are open to the hydraulic return. That way they can ride on the gauge wheels.

The wings shouldn’t drop any further down then the center section, is the mower set up correctly, are the wing running gear set the same hight as the center on a level surface? Are you using cylinder stroke control spacers on the main cylinder to set your cutting hight , if not the cutter will creep down if you have a leaking control valve.

Wing cylinders on batwing that I've seen have single acting cylinders that have no down pressure. Depth stops will not be of no use on wing fold lift cylinders because stops would only keep wings from folding straight up. Is frt of cutter raised high enough off ground?

The stops are not used on the wing cylinders they are only used on the main lift cylinder.

What does that mean?

When you lower the wings, do you push your remote all the way forward and feel it lock in a detent? You basically want the fluid to flow in and out of the cylinder as the terrain changes. It should fold up a little or down a bit to follow the ground. Call the dealer and ask them if it has a float valve for the wings. If not, you need one
