Boy you sure do repeat the same stories alot don't ya?
The F350 doesn't leave without 10k lbs right? Ha ha!

Also, you haven't hauled a large travel trailer with it right?

I have hauled plenty of travel trailers with it in the 25 to 30' range. I agree that any box trailer is another beast but there is no reason a properly equipped 1/2 ton can not handle them. I have also towed enclosed box trailer, same issues.

The real issue here is there are so many weekend warriors who think you need a 1 ton diesel to tow a 3500# tractor. This new smaller GM truck will do everything most of them need pulling upto 7000#. It's more truck and as large as the 1/2 tons of the mid 90's. The 1/2 tons of today are the 3/4 tons of the 2000's. Just look at the specs of my 06 1 ton. It was a beast when new but gas 3/4 ton trucks of today can match it's numbers. It's progress, not 1989.

2008 Titan Max towing 6500 lbs.
GVWR 7101 lbs.
GCWR 11688 lbs.
Payload 2063 lbs

Interesting...

These numbers are not even close. My max towing is 9400# and my GCWR is 15,100#. It would be 9500# if it was 2 wheel drive. The payload on my truck is about 1800#. It has every option on the list so it's heavy.

Useful information to know when comparing apples to bannas...

Aaron Z
Apples to bananas?
I was comparing an 08 Nissan Titan crew cab rated at 7000lb towing to an older 03 Ram 1500 quad cab rated at 7,550lbs. Both trucks rated at around 1800 payload and the Titan squats more and feels softer loaded or not. That was the comparison...
I'm sure both trucks would have stiffer rear suspensions with proper tow packages but when optioned similarily, the Nissan was softer. This is typical with all the Nissans I've dealt with.

now how far back do you think crew cabs went?
I saw this today, what a treat.
1962 VW Double Cab Pickup

I doubt it could tow very much...very low hp.

Interesting VW truck. Saw this International model in one of my off-road magazines. I think "early Avalanche" w the solid body.

You nailed it. I think consumers as a whole are thinking much differently than they did 6 to 8 years ago. We are starting to look more at what we "need" in a truck instead of "which truck makes my balls fit in a wheelbarrow". For everyday driving and use, the new Colorado/ Canyon truck will fit mine (and most folks) needs. It still has a bold look to it IMO.

which truck makes my balls fit in a wheelbarrow"

I had to chuckle, and for some guys, they need to be so large they have to hang metal versions from their tow hitch...
Classy...
