No, this issue existed before I serviced it. I just thought there was a fuel delivery problem as it had original fuel hoses, and a filthy fuel filter. My other suspicion was maybe a valve adjustment or injectors, but I took care of all those problems.

I also had something weird happen while trying to bleed the injectors. With the engine running at 1200 rpm, whenever I would crack a injector line for bleeding the engine would die. Just slow down, and eventually die.

This tractor has power steering. With the engine running at around 2000 rpm, when I turned the wheel and loaded up the hyd system it would would reduce the rpm to below 1000, and then die.

I’m going to take a video of what is going on and post it here. Hopefully somebody smarter than me can help me. I cringe at the thought of taking this thing to the dealer.

Today I changed the fuel shut off valve packing gasket and reinstalled the fuel tank. I bled the the fuel filter, and the pump. Next, I have to crank it and bleed the injectors. I called a local repair shop and set up a date for them to come pick it up next week. Unless by some miracle this shut off packing fixes the problem...doubtful...it will be hauled to the shop and I will have to empty my wallet :(

Hi, thanks for posting the service you have done to your 1510. I also have one and had a lot of the same questions as you.

I had no idea that some 1510s had power steering, it makes me wonder if I could add it to mine. It's the one thing this tractor is really lacking, especially with the weight of the loader up front.

Did you ever figure out, or have fixed, what was going on with the motor?

No problem, glad it helped someone.

I had the tractor trucked down to the local tractor dealer for repair of the motor issue. I'm still waiting to hear back from them on what they found. I just couldn't risk blowing the motor as it kept trying to run away on me. It just chaps me that I couldn't figure it out :(

You got further than most of us would have gotten.

The Shibaura engines are supposed to be bulletproof. The thing that makes me nervous about these old tractors is parts availability.

Yes, very sketchy availability. The parts that are available are pretty expensive too.

If they were bulletproof why is everybody stripping engine parts of everyone that they can find. Helping a friend fix a 1500 and new parts are just about non existent and the ones that are available are obscenely priced. Dealer wanted $450 just for the shop manual...

If it was easy to drop a Kubota in its place it would be done by now, they are bulletproof and when they do break there are parts everywhere.
