18' trailer price check

   / 18' trailer price check #31
So how far is it from the front of the deck to the centers of your axles? Does the 55/45 bias mean that the axles are centered 55% (118.8") behind the front of the deck on your 18' trailer?

Yes, roughly 120" from the beginning of the deck surface. I have seen some companies that build units with the center line of the axles back at a 70% bias, but, unless it is a goose neck trailer, people will complain that this much axle setting forces too much tongue weight onto a trailer.

Another way to think of it is that if you could theoretically take 2000lbs of cargo and evenly lay it out over every square inch of the deck, 55%, or 1,100 lbs would lay in front of the center line of the axles, giving you a 22% increase in load over the back section, behind the center line of the axles.

Now, this is on an 18' length model and as the length goes out, that % changes slightly to eliminate cycling at tow speed... but that's more of an inner circle trick of the trade.
