If i am not mistaken, wasn't the 1010 the model before the 4020? The loader works fine, just looked like it was modified to fit the tractor. You talked about open and closed center valves, which is better? I have begun the restoration of this tractor and was a little stumped by the loader.
No. The 1010 was much smaller, the model before the 4020 was the 4010. The 1010 was less than 40 hp, the 4010-20 were up around 90 hp. The would expalin why the loader towers are so far forward on your tractor. To me it looks like they should be back closer to the operator. The only time I have seen that is when someone put a small loader on a larger tractor. That loader may look beefy due to it might have been for a 1010 industrial with a solid front axle. That would give it a greater capacity than a ag axle.
