1973-1977 Kubota B6000

Hi all I'm new here. Just acquired an older B6000 with a loader and a backhoe.
I'm kinda concerned about the way the motor sounds. I'll have to figure pout how to upload a video.

I had an older B6200 and the engine had a bit of a growling, rattling sound, like big parts hitting each other. But it sounded that way all 25 years I had it. I always imagined pistons slapping back and forth in the cylinders, with lots of clearance. It did start blowing a bit of white smoke when working hard in the last years I had it, which I guessed might be rings, but I dunno, might have been leaking around valve stems. I'm not much good at diagnosing engine symptoms. Anyway, does yours sound like that?

Hmm, yeah, I don't know what that might be -- I guess I picture thinner pieces of metal that can ring a little bit, if there's a clinking sound. I'm afraid I'm not gonna do you much good....

Wonderful but very tiny tractor. In my opinion, just use it. A complete engine for that little tractor can't be all that much. A classic. Well worth keeping it going forever.

I bought a new B7100 HST in 1979.

I have to say, that tractor was the noisiest of all the Kubota's I've owned. It made sounds I never heard a diesel make before. It got noisier with age but it ran perfectly for 2500 hours and the 20 years I owned it.

I agree with the others. Just run it. If and when something breaks, deal with it then.
