I live in NW Michigan. Our local airport is taking sealed bids on a 1979 Ford 6600 2wd with a Dunham Kehr loader model 22, loaded tires, rear chains, dual remote hydraulics and heated\AC cab. It has 3892 hours. The airport manager said it was used exclusively for mowing and doesn't have any issues.

I plan on checking it out a bit more later this week.

Any idea what it might be worth. My research seems to indicate $7,000 to $10,000.

I've read good things about this tractor. Any first-hand experience?

No personal experience here, but from what I've seen on the inter webs, you're right on. If it's well taken care of, getting a solid 70 PTO HP tractor for $8k doesn't seem too bad. I guess it depends on what you need it for.

Take a close look, see what it needs/doesn't need, and make the decision based on what's right for you. Also look at what equivalent tractors are going for. That might give you a better gauge.

I would check out Tractorhouse.com. Find what others are going for... and bid accordingly.

Tractor House has a place in the upper right where you can click on completed auctions and see the prices realized. You may not find a lot of 6600 but maybe 5600 or 7600 and do a little guesswork. I follow auctions pretty close and things often bring less in Michigan and Wisconsin than other places.

I think Sheridan Auctions will let you search sale results. Lots of places will.

Thanks for the links. They were very useful. My wife will NOT be happy that you introduced me to Sheridan....

The bid deadline was today. I decided to hold off on getting a bigger tractor, but put in a low bid just in case they had few bidders. Turns out they had 40, yes, 40 sealed bids. Very surprising. It sold for $10,565.
