1981 VW Rabbit Diesel Pickup- 60,700 miles

Those VW pickups you could drive till the box and fenders fell off, someone will want it just for what it is.


On a side note I am selling a 02 F350 7.3 extended cab with a auto, it’s just sitting around taking up land.

My truck is pre vortec era being a 1992. But I don’t tow any big loads with my ton truck or my suburban. I bought my 6500 truck for doing that.

I only have two vehicles, a 1993 Suburban and 2013 Impala, and a car hauler trailer. Those do everything I need to do. Haul people. Haul cargo. Tow trailer. Go to weddings and funerals.

I had an 82 VW Rabbit diesel pickup. Wish I still had it. Yes, it got 50mpg. Low on hp but it had torque! Easy to load things in bed.
I would think you'd want to keep it, especially since it was your Dad's.

Price - $7625
Cost $7915, when new in 1981 (I have the orig. window sticker).

Back in June, I mentioned here on TBN, that I was planning to sell.

Demand very thin?

Though I did spend nearly $1000 for a new timing belt, diesel fuel system purge, and battery.
I am satisfied with the end result.

The buyer is a VW Aficionado!
He will trailer it to Pa. later this month, and then put in a newer VW turbo diesel, although, there is absolutely nothing mechanically wrong with the existing engine.
Will then strip, and repaint, and add custom wheels.
He sent a picture of another VW he has done.
VERY sharp looking vehicle.
Apparently, he has a small stable of restored VW's
My long deceased dad would be pleased,..... as I am.
