Fixing the F-150's trans is going to be around $3,000. If you would fix it I recommend you only get a trans from the dealer because they will back up their trans. If you have any problems with it you take it in and they will fix it. If you take the $3k the trans will cost plus what you can get for the F-150 as it sits you will be hallways or more there on the price of the Chevy.
I am not a big Chevy fan but I think I would go with the Chevy. The price sounds pretty good to me. If it has been well maintained it should run along time. I would do a transfer case pump upgrade to it. These trucks have a anti rattle clip that breaks and put a hole in the transfer case and the fluid leaks out. Most of the time you don't know it til it's to late. GasTruck
