Just ran out to get a Sunday newspaper. Local Java/fuel/lotto stop dropped to $2.37 over night! Manager said next tanker load will go to $2.29!

I'm gonna go drive around all day in celebration!
YOU can afford to at those prices.

How many of these useless 'Price of Gas in your town' threads are we going to have?

Roughly 3 per every "How many useless threads are we going to have" post's if I'm counting right.

Right where "they" want us. Thinking under $2.50 is a "bargain".

If you went somewhere say on vacation you might drive across the country. It would be nice to know how much fuel was in advance.

Hi Daryl,

GasBuddy might be a better solution. :)

I like using TBN better. ;)

Is it still $2.94 up at the Exxon on the corner of Route 40 and Byesville Road?

I'd "X" off the exxon....exxoff

Daryl,
I don't quite understand that Exxon station. Most Exxon stations are only two cents higher than everyone else, not 70 cents!!!
On the south side of Cambridge by I-70, gasoline is around $2.25 per gallon at Walmart, Pilot, and Sheetz.
Up at I-77 and U.S. 40, Exxon has been stuck at $2.94 forever! Funny thing is it's not some old family owned service station that has high prices because the owner would rather be working on cars than dealing with the pumps... this is one of the new combo Exxon/Wendy's with 12 or 14 pumps.
I just don't get it!

My wife and I always get a chuckle going by that Exxon. Maybe they are single handedly trying to make good on the Valdez fiasco. There are always 1-2 cars in there geting gas. We figure it's lifelong cardholders showing they're loyalty?

Is there still a BP across from that Exxon?
Is BP's prices similar to that Exxon station, or more in line with the gas stations down by I-70?

I don't mean to dwell on this, but a 70 cent price difference just blows my mind... and it's facinating that they are still doing business!

Yeah, BP is still there and are competitive. I figure the Exxon must be some Candid Camera gag going on, or just a blatant ripoff to the poor folks who pay no attention to the signs.

How can it be a blatant rip off? They posted their prices for all to see and people are free to buy gas there or drive to another station.

Well I definitely think it's a rip and it's fairly blatant with the big signs out there. I think you may be confusing blatant with a covert or clandestine type rip job.

Nope, not confusing anything. They are free to charge whatever they want, just as the consumer is free to drive on by their station. If enough people drive on by, they will either lower their price or go out of business. Free market at work. It'd be one thing if they were the only station in the area, but they aren't.

Blatant, adjective-- tastelessly conspicuous.

Yep, it's blatant... Even Gatorboy would agree the correct adjective was used! :p

Ya got me! :) Blatant, yes. Rip off? No.

rip‧off  /ˈrɪpˌɔf, -ˌɒf/ – noun Slang.
1. an act or instance of ripping off another or others; a theft, cheat, or swindle.

They must be completely out of touch with the competition, or, they don't want a bunch of cars cluttering up their gas pumps. Or, they are ripping people off, IMHO.
