You will like that Ram. I almost bought one myself when a local dealer had an Outdoorsman package adverstised at a sweet low price and then would not honor the price so I passed. I likely could have pushed the issue harder but did not.
That all said, I would have went 8 speed on the tranny as a must have item although I not really a fan of the dial shifter either. That 8 speed tranny is one sweet shifting tranny and best of all it is not a Chrysler tranny. The Ram 6 speed on the other hand is an old Chrysler tranny and worst of all it is not really a true 6 speed like all the other truck manufactures who truly have 6 speeds when they claim so. On the Ram 6 speed: 2 of the gears are so close in ratio that they are only ever so slightly different. Of the 2 gears that are basically the same: Ram uses the "prime one" on the upshifts and then uses the alternate one that is basically the same yet ever so slightly different on the downshifts so it is not false advertising from a legal perspective as 6 distinct speeds are attained...eventually...yet it sorta is from a practical perspective...in all practical purposes the Ram 6 speed is really only a 5 speed.
The ZF 8 is now built by Chrysler under license from ZF. Being new, I know the history and it will be well maintained.
