2.7EB vs 3.5EB?

3:55. Perfect for my needs.

I had looked at a few used rams, but only was interested in Hemi/3.92/trailer tow mirrors/factory trailer brake, wasn't fussy on 6-speed Auto or 8-speed auto, but most seemed to have been 3.55.

Your MPG should be decent. I don't think the 8-speed offered any better MPG than the 6-speed, just got you the stupid knob shift.

You have column or console shift?

Growing up back in the 1950-1960,s dodge/plymouth had the dash mounted push button automatics left side of the steering wheel.Thought they were pretty cool as a kid..

I have everything that you mentioned (in bold) 3:55 and 6 speed auto with column shift. The 8 speed auto uses the dial shift as its fully electronic, but does have a park bypass lever behind a panel in the dash. Glad I got the 6 speed.

Guy I know bought an 8-speed RAM, said he's caught himself a few times out of habit "turning the radio down" but stopped himself once he remembered...

Kind of wish I had the console shift in my F-150 but the column shift works, the +/- is on the shifter and I run M when towing so my hand has to go "forward" to use it.

I went from a 6-speed manual so I miss having the gear change on the floor.

142k on my 2011 3.5 ecoboost. Runs like a champ. Daily driven and worked. I expect another couple years out of it or at least 200k miles. Minimal repairs up to this point, a wheel bearing and coil pack were the most expensive things so far to keep it running. Next truck will likely be another ecoboost if we don’t jump up to a power stroke. If I can get 200-250k out of these trucks I’ll be happy

You will like that Ram. I almost bought one myself when a local dealer had an Outdoorsman package adverstised at a sweet low price and then would not honor the price so I passed. I likely could have pushed the issue harder but did not.

That all said, I would have went 8 speed on the tranny as a must have item although I not really a fan of the dial shifter either. That 8 speed tranny is one sweet shifting tranny and best of all it is not a Chrysler tranny. The Ram 6 speed on the other hand is an old Chrysler tranny and worst of all it is not really a true 6 speed like all the other truck manufactures who truly have 6 speeds when they claim so. On the Ram 6 speed: 2 of the gears are so close in ratio that they are only ever so slightly different. Of the 2 gears that are basically the same: Ram uses the "prime one" on the upshifts and then uses the alternate one that is basically the same yet ever so slightly different on the downshifts so it is not false advertising from a legal perspective as 6 distinct speeds are attained...eventually...yet it sorta is from a practical perspective...in all practical purposes the Ram 6 speed is really only a 5 speed.

I went shopping last year for a new Ford f150 super crew 4X4 lariat spoke with the ford dealer I wanted the 5.0 liter engine. They fought me tooth and nail trying to sell me a echo boost engine which I did not want.I ended up buying a 2016 Ram 2500 crew cab laramie with 6.4 hemi for about the same price.Could not be happier with my truck so far only 20,000 miles.
Nice truck. Looks a little like a Ford.
