2 Cycle fuel in a 4 Cycle engine

i have a 4hp honda powered "mini" air compressor that is a 4 stroke, but has probably never actually seen straight gas in its life. no smoke, no plug fouling, no ill effects. its about 15 years old

A little 2 cycle mix is acutally good for an older worn engine. It will up the compression by sealing cyllinder scratches as the piston goes up and down. I personally don't need to do it but my friend is a small engine guy and he said as long as you have electronic ignition you will get a plenty hot spark to burn the mix. He cautiond that a new engine run hard may not like the extra compression. ( boom )

I have used gas with the 2 cycle mix in a 4 cycle engine in a pinch or to burn up the mixed gas as it was getting old. I don't feed it a steady diet of mixed. Smoked some but saw no ill effects. I figure I'm getting a little oil to to top end of the 4 cycle.
