I am curious as to what devices people have made to fit into 2 inch receivers. I have attached some relevant pictures. These are designed for my Power Trac 422, but some apply to other tractors and trucks.

I saw a step someone had made today for their truck. Very simple and neat. He said he also had an umbrella holder that he used when tailgating.

I have a receiver on top, in the middle of my bucket. I made a 3' long attachment that slides in with a hook on the end for lifting deer for skinning (when in season of course). Also have a portable 12V winch mounted on a 2x2 bar that will slide in the front or back receiver. Plus of course my hitch for moving trailers (regular and gooseneck).

This thread really points out how slow I've become lately. I just realized that I welded a square tube on my pallet forks attachment to mount the 2" sq. boom pole in that will also take a trailer hitch. All I have to do is drill holes for the pin, remove the forks, and curl the plate down....DUH!!! It's going to make moving my trailers a little easier with my mini skid steer.
Thanks for posting this for us slow guys. Too bad it's dark now.....

Wow, I just thought of something else, I made a subsoiler with a curved pipe on it for laying wires. It has a solid 2" shank that I use with the 3pt trailer mover for my old Ford. I wonder if the mini has enough power and traction to use it in my new found mount? I could even push it forward and build a roller to repack the dirt after the subsoiler goes through. I'll have to try that in the morning.
Then a bracket to mount a spool of wire on and I'm ready to go.

Thanks Ford and George. Do you have any pictures?

Here is a picture of my boom pole, supported by the boat whinch on the 2 inch square tube with a brush cutter blade on the end. I was hoping to be able to cut branches with this. If I take the blade off of the boom pole and connect it directly to the tranctor 2 inch receiver, I can angle it down and dig narrow trenches or cut roots.

Ford,
If the mini doesn't have enough power, it would make one heck of an anchor. A couple pics included. Other homemade items were out back. Actually, most of the items I've made are in the members photo section.

I added a reciever to the end of my boom pole to extend the length for setting trusses. I have since painted everything orange to match. I too have hooks and trailer balls that I can plug into the reciever. Lately I have been using my hook on the trailer safety chain to back the trailer into the barn since the hook is usually what is on the bucket and my most popular item.

Yes the 1 1/2 strap does the trick. With the extension added I can pick up about 250 pounds straight out before my tires start to come off the ground using my 500 lb ballast and filled tires. The extension piece will bow some but the base piece stays straight. I am not using this in the extended length to lift more than 100 pounds and mainly for setting trusses. I will be using it next weekend to set 25' trusses for a friend on a garage. I will try to take some pictures.

I have a vice mounted to 2" tubing. Also a winch. Was thinking of doing similar with my snowplow pump.

Thanks for the replys. Keep them coming.
Slowzuki, I had been thinking about the vice for a long time. Seems like a good general purpose items. Good for truck and tractor.

In addition to the trailer ball I usually have in my reciever hitch, I have a sprayer I made to fit the receiver. My last project was making a hitch for my pull-type spring tooth drag that I use for the garden. It is lot easeier to make something for the 3pth with just a piece of 2" square stock than to make a complete 3pt attachment with lower link pins and a top link yoke. For light duty implements the reciever hitch is plenty strong and is easier to attach to the tractor, too.

Very impressive boom pole. I see the end section is even reversible for
chain or rope/strap. Nice. How high can you reach? 20' or more?

I don't need to set any girders or trusses, but have you considered
mounting a remote-controlled electric chainsaw on it? It might make
tree-trimming WAY easier....

The short piece on the end is 5 foot long and can be used by itself. The piece with the bridge is 8 foot long. I get about 12 feet with both then add the 8-9 foot lift height you are on the money. I have a clevis on the end for lifting and the hooks on the end I have never used but could be used to retrieve something.

Looks like just the ticket for working on my dock......I've got some 1/4" wall 2" square and a few extra receivers, gonna fasten one to my fork bracket this week-end...

On another thread discussing vertical 3ph splitters, it was noted that the splitter precluded bringing a trailer along. My solution to that problem was to create a hitch with a vee that conformed to the splitters wedge and using the hydraulics to create the downforce to hold it in place. My American splitter has a nub welded to the foot to keep chunks from sliding under pressure and that nub is what provides the lateral and longitudinal stability to keep the hitch in place. I have done a similar thing to the winch so it can haul a trailer too.

BTDT,
That little strap you were asking about makes all the difference in the world. When I built my boom for my tractor I used an I-beam, so I really didn't need any more strength. However I was concerned about side to side movement, so I added one like that to each side. I also took the torch and warmed them up just a little as I was welding them, so when they cooled it would be under tension. You can play a tune off them now, they are so tight.

Good thinking. Trying to anticipate what "might" happen and designing for it's occurrence is a good thing.

I have about a 6' long lifting boom, and a subsoiler (made from and old bush hog blade) that fit in this. Both attachments use both sockets.
