Gander Mountain has the Taurus TCP 380ACP on sale for $199.99.

Anybody got one of these? I have had good luck with Rugers but,....Is the Ruger LCP worth $100 more for a seldom fired pocket carry gun?

Any comments would be appreciated.

Save your money up for the Ruger jmho. Taurus autos are notorious for failure I had one I know...never again. my .002

Actually so not to spread rumors on the .380 to be fair mine was a brand new PT-45 Millennium went 50 rounds and the trigger mech gave up 3 months at Taurus to fix it and it worked fine when I got it back and I sold it with the guy knowing the whole story he got a real good deal also. ;)

If it were me (and my .380 is a Sig) I would cheerfully pay extra for the Ruger. Taurus quality has never been that good, and I would never buy a defensive weapon I had misgivings about. Just my nickle's worth.

Ruger LCP is a great, dependable, carry pistol that everyone should own.

fwtw I carry a NAA .380 guardian in my rt front pocket its not a 200 dollar gun. But just for conversation 3 times now this summer I have pulled it since it was handier than my .22 rifle and killed possums in my garage last one was a week ago. It has never once from day one ever hiccuped I totally am confident it will fire if needed for defense.

I remember years ago when cheap motorcycle helmets were really common. Often seen signs sated, "If you have a $10 head, buy a $10 helmet." I'm not familiar personally with either gun, but money is the last thing I think of when buying something on which my life may someday depend.

My experience with the Taurus brand has been good, it should be noted there was a recall on the early Ruger LCP, so a past problem with either manufacturer is often meaningless.

Looked online at several reviews and I will not be putting my money down for this little pistol. I know that the Ruger LCP had problems and a recall at first but the Taurus reviews are awful. Failure to feed and failure to eject with anything exceft round nose ammo. Thanks for the information. Looks like I will be getting an LCP to go along side my 10/22 and Mk. II pistol.

If you can disassemble and clean a Ruger Mark 2 or 3...NASA has a job waiting for you. :D

.380? Get yourself a .45 because shooting twice is just plain silly. :D
