Not looking for a cab tractor, but have a a 7040 in the family with 225 hrs, barn kept, that is part of an estate of a relative. They know I'm looking and are willing to give me a 'great deal.' I'm thinking if I can help them out, give it a try, and if it just won't work use it toward the purchase of one that will. I'm going to be doing timber work more than pasture, with a grapple and a skidder winch.

Tractor has a loader.....looks like an 1153 from the picture and in great shape. Looking on Tractor house, looks like they are listed for high 20s to low 30s. What would a great deal be, and if it didn't work, what would be realistic for a trade value?

Thanks for your help.

I use my M7040 for timber work as well. Can't be beaten, especially with a set of forks or a grapple. It is a real workhorse.

Mid $20 K would be a great deal considering only 224 hours. Can't comment on trade value as I'm not a dealer or considering a different tractor.

Might be better to let the family agree on a price and then decide if it is a price you're good with. Might prevent hard feelings.... Just a thought.

That tractor would be listed for 35k plus here. Very desirable model. No pollution junk like the 7060...

I think you'd be getting a deal in the 25 to 30 range for sure.

Anything under 30k would be a good deal I'd think.

I go pick it up on Monday. I went with the 'tell me what you need' and it worked out for everyone. Good to keep it in the family. Thanks for the input.

I'm predicting that you'll really enjoy working with it. Mine has been great.
