I'll have to ask him again how many squares he normally gets in a 4x5. His small squares are about 50 pounds.
a 4 by 5 bale of hay weighs 900 to 1000lbs depending on the type of hay dryness an thickness of the windrow.an all of that goes with how tight the baler is set.so 18 to 20 50lb sq bales in a roll.

19 sq bales X 75#s = 1425#s PLUS a sq bale will be packed tighter per cubic ft so that's similar to apples to oranges comparing cu ft of one kind to cu ft of another kind of bale. I've never seen a 4X5 grass rd bale @ 15% moisture or below out of any color rd baler go much over 1000#s. Most rd balers are hard pressed to make a 950-1000# 4X5 bale. I've bought several 4X5 bales that were suppose to weigh 1000# + that didn't weigh 900#s.
Jim I don't get 19teen bales at 75 pounds.. I get around 14teen.. but if you compare the cu/ft to cu/ft then it comes out about 19 square bales to a solid 4x5.. remember pie is round,, cornbread is square.. Lou
Nice. We cut 30 acres yesterday. Last cutting for the year. Have to our cover crop in. We are behind for sure.

That was my 2nd. Some years we get 3 cuttings. It just depends on moisture and grazing. I like to graze it instead of burning diesel. I have some more standing but I am going to feed it out.
Hope to bale up that pasture this evening before the dew hits.
Cover crop seed should be in on TH. They keep forgetting to put it on the truck.

30 acres got 25 bales.
Now I need to plant 100 acres in cover crop.
