Recently traded my 2013 Z71,4 WD,extended cab for the new 2014 model Silverado.Equipted very similar. My 2013 only had 5500 miles on it but was taken by the new interior of the 2014's.Lots of improvement on the new truck
quieter ride, better mileage(same 5.3 displacement) direct injected, rear doors are now conventional opening, much nicer interior and dash.Truck is Ruby red with the optional coco interior...very sharpe.I just took a 60 mile road trip to pick up my new ARE cap:truck milage showed 22.8 mpg for the trip;impressive for a 4WD,V8 truck.

Congrats on the new truck. I also have a 2013. Mine is ruby red too. I like the new dash lay out better than the 13 and would like better MPG. I haven't taken a trip yet but local driving I'm getting 16.5 MPG. Would be very hard for me to justify trading in my 13 for a 14. I don't have the cap but have the color matched hard shell tonneau cover on mine.

We got a fleet of these at work about 2 months ago. Night and day difference from the 2008 and 2011's they replaced. I was quite impressed.

I just took delivery of a F150 SuperCrew FX4 Ecoboost with 3.73 gears. So far on the first two tanks I have averaged mid 18's but see 23 mpg on the freeway just like you.

Very nice ride. Good solid engineering behind it. No worries about spark plugs blowing out or turbo failures. Oh, or insurance increases due to aluminum body. First in with new technology always take a hit regardless of brand.

Hmmmmmm. Lack of innovation puts you so far behind you actually think your in front.

Sharp truck!!...I drove one of the new ones as a loaner for a week...6cyl 4x4 loaded SLE, but even that was pretty impressive power wise...The interior quietness was almost scary. They put a ton of thought into the '14's and did a very nice job in my opinion.

I'm sure there will be at least one individual on this board (incessantly) that will find a reason to trash it because it's a GM product. Oh well, I just ignore it--it's gotten beyond tiresome.

Nice truck! I've had my 2014 Sierra Crew 4x4 for about a month now, and have been seeing 19-21 mpg averages at the end of each tank. Pretty impressive. I towed two loads of gravel (5000# each) at the beginning of my current tank, and was showing 13-14mpg at first, but it quickly rebounded to 19mpg after one round trip commute with a lot of highway miles. The 5.3 V8 really sips fuel when cruising.

The 2012 GM trucks were not even seriously on my radar when I shopped a couple years ago, but the 2014 models were a big turnaround. They made a lot of huge improvements.

Thanks for the comments guys,I forgot to mention the truck has 3.42 gears, same as my previous truck which for its life averaged about 15-15.5 mpg.Only problem;this thing is so quiet I find myself doing 70 mph without even realizing it.Have to keep an close eye on the spedo. This is about number 12 new truck from GM and they all have been great.

Nice truck, it sounds like GM did a good job with the new ones and people are really liking them.

Congratulations, really liked the 2014 I looked at awhile back. Everything except the price.

Chris

I would not say the famed spark plug failures, turbo failures, CAC sludge problems, 6.0 failures, etc. are innovation successes.

I most likely will be in the market in the not too distant future...

Both my 85 and 91 Chevrolets have provided outstanding service.

The 85 just barely squeaked by the emission test this year...

Looked last year and had a friend whose Father in Law passed with a new 13 model year... it was just hard to get excited about it.

One thing I know I will enjoy is getting better than the solid 10 mpg I get with the 85... in all fairness, we have some very steep hills around here and empty, I'm still at the GVW max with the service body...
