I know there are plenty of plowing videos, but this is mine. Between the snow and the rain I finally got hooked up and plowed where we're going to have the garden. Put new coulters on my 60 year old plow and it made all the difference.
Anyone else got their plowing done/started?

WOW, our ground is still so frozen you can see ice crystals a few inches in! I'm jealous!

I chisel plowed yesterday and today. Also picked the last of the turnips today. Then hooked up the ole row hipper and got it adjusted.
Tomorrow I'm tilling, putting out fertilizer, and planting a row of Irish potatoes (Red LaSoda).

Here are some pics if they'll load...

Got mine done yesterday. But being new at it, it's nothing that I'd want to show on a video....even if I could. The ground was a little too wet, but it is done until it dries a bit for the tiller. Thanks for your pictures/video.
Cheers,
Mike

That was only my fourth time. It seems to be all in the setup so I watched a few videos from YouTube. The "Everything Attachments" videos are very educational.

Thanks, I've watched both of Ted's videos and reviewed them again. Just need more practice. But as Ted noted, the fat R4 tires are not the best for this kind of work. And plowing would have one gone better last fall. Bought my plow from EA several years ago.

We still have a mucky mess up here. It'll be a little while unfortunately.

I've got R4s, but you have to work with what you've got. I had wanted to plow last fall, but I had determined that I needed new coulters for my 60 year old plow and I researched and bought parts, most of what didn't work out, finally bought a drill press to disassemble the old coulters that were riveted together, and made parts work. Needless to say, I didn't get my plow back together until about the first week of March. Also, inbetween working on the plow I built a pine needle rake including a three point hitch for it.

Donald Ducote AKA "Webcajun" or "The Bayou Gardener" on YouTube is where I learned most of my info about gardening using tractors & implements. You owe it to yourselves to watch his videos.
