Totally agree. Toyota has a huge advantage over everyone because if their entire fuel efficient line up. They may not sell the most trucks, but it is solid reliable well packaged machine.

I agree it's a solid truck. My 08 Nissan Titan was better than any of my 15 plus Fords, 4 GM's, 1 Ram, and 1 Toyota but as far as power goes that Eco Boost has them all beat hands down. Not even a close fight even though Ford sold more tucks in a week than Nissan did in a year. So sales numbers are not all that but the F150 of today is no slouch. It's way better than my 1996 GMC dually 454 in all aspects and has the power my 1999 F350 Powerstoke.

I understand you don't like the Eco Boost. I do. I can guarantee you that it is the way things are going. Just like fuel injection over carbs, automatic trannys over manuals, EPS over pumps, ect.

Like it or not it's just progress.

My suggestion is to buy what you want why you still can because I will bet a month salary in 10 years you ain't going to get it.

Good luck on your Tundra purchase. I like the Tundra a lot. The deal breaker for me back when we were looking was no built in brake controller but it looks as if that has been addressed.

Getting use to the new LC200 5.7. I ran fuel down to empty and only got 20 gallons in it. Tank is 24.5. I guess when it's empty I really have 4+ gallons. How does the Tundra fuel gauge work.

Sounds about right. Just to check it once, I ran my 2005 at the time and got 80 miles before I ran out. I just needed to know.
There is a site out that shows what to expect in reserve capacity for each of the Toyotas but I believe all fell into that 80 mile category.

German cars the range milage computer is very accurate, when it's zero miles you are toast.

Back to the Tundras, Do the current ones have push button start? My 07 has a momentary turn of the key in the start position, and engine starts. You don't have to hold the keey in the start position. Why I am asking is I have been in newer vehicles with a push button start while pressing te brake pedal. Problem for me is I start my truck standing outside of it. Some cars would be a real pain to do this, ie my sonn's Audi A4. I have to fall into to get in. Getting out is even worse. I wonder what the 18 Tundras will have for starting. Jon

My 14 has the momentary switch. I ASSUME the 17 is the same, as just about everything else is.

My '07, with the 26 Gal. tank, low fuel light came on with 6 Gal. still in the tank; my '16, with the 38 Gal. tank has 5 left in the tank. Toyota really doesn't want you to run out of fuel.

Running any lower exposes the in tank pump to cavitation and the pump being submerged in fuel cools it. Both will wear out a pump in a hurry.

Toyota is just covering their back side.

This should not be a issue anymore. Last 5 vehicles I have bought all had factory remote starters.

The fuel gauge thing must be a Japanese thing. Just consider all the fuel gauge comments on Kubota tractors that have been posted here.
