2014+ Toyota Tundra 5.7.

The Tundra reminds me of how American trucks used to be and ought to be. The engine is pretty basic with nothing weird, all the buttons and levers where they ought to be and nothing too complicated. Paint simple, trim simple, interior basic but quality and nothing out of the ordinary. That works for me.

I agree... Big, easy to use buttons and knobs. And for the most part, laid out pretty well. Sure there are things I would change for my own personal liking but not too many complaints overall.

Don't forget to add design location (Michigan), build location (Texas), and parts origin (near 80℅ domestic content) to your American trucks list.

Do they have a factory brake controller yet? We test drove them in 2011 and it was not a option if I remember correctly. That was a deal breaker for us after having a couple Fords with factory units.

I'm not sure if the newest ones do, but my 2011 doesn't have one. I agree, the integrated "Tow Command" in my F450 & F350 are very good systems. They work better with less jerking than the aftermarket unit in my Tundra.

Yes they do have an electric brake controller now, I have one in my 2016. Gives you the option of choosing electric over hydraulic braking system if your trailer is equipped as well.

From what I heard from a few people, Toyota asked farmers, construction workers, etc.. for their input (what they would want in a truck) when they redesigned the Tundra. I like the truck it's a workhorse.

Salesman friend just rolled 238K miles on his 2012 5.7L Tundra double cab 4x4. Only repair needed so far is a new fan clutch.

I bought a 14 double cab new. It's been flawless. I have the 4.6l. 310hp. Plenty of power for everything I do. 23mpg highway. I don't think you can get a better truck.

Love my 2014 5.7 doublecab SR5. Tow my 7K trailer with big loads; and my 10K Downeaster dump trailer near capacity, counting trailer weight (~ 3 tons of material). We have good hills here, and no problems with gear hopping. Has a tow/haul button. Had to put an aftermarket controller, but that has worked fine on this truck.

That is my biggest reason for going Toyota next time. If Toyota can do it all in the USA, others can too.

Exactly. I love everything about them. No gimmicks, no trying to out gimmick the next guy.
