there are many autos that no longer have a tranny dip stick. They don't want you to change it. They want you to bring it back to the dealer. There will be a day when all vehicles will not have dip stick for oil

Has anyone else changed their plastic oil filter housing out for an aluminum housing ? Mine is an 07 . I don't know what years used the plastic housing

I'm not giving you my personal opinion on it, I believe that was what was relayed on the tundra forums a few years ago.

There's different info...

Transmission Fluid Change/Flush - TundraTalk.net - Toyota Tundra Discussion Forum
Most of that thread relates to someone under-filling the transmission or using the wrong fluid. As for actual changes, Toyota would tend to disagree with you.
From the maintenance schedule for the 2015 Tundra (http://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/omms-s/T-MMS-15Tundra/pdf/2015_Toyota_Tundra_WMG_lr.pdf) at 60,000 miles or 72 months when "Driving while towing, using a car-top carrier, or heavy vehicle loading" they say to "Replace automatic transmission fluid" (page 44 of the linked PDF).

07 Tundra, transmission service is done by my local shop.

I solved the skid plate issue as well...
The same shop does the oil changes on a lift, about $30 plus oil...

yep, I solved my skid plate issue as well. It's not 4wd therefore it doesn't need a skid plate

Our 07 BMW did not have a oil dips stick. Just had a gauge like the Fuel quality gauge and would give a warning if it was low.

That's extreme; I can see an automatic transmission, although I still don't like it, but an oil sump.

Why? You trust a fuel gauge, a temperature gauge, ect.

That's true, and it would probably reduce problems for some people. Many don't read their manual or realize if the oil is between the marks/dots on the stick, it is fine. You read all the time how they check oil and top it off since it's "below the full line". That leads to overfilling.

I failed to mention, I change the transmission fluid every 30k. Oil is cheap, $3200 for a transmission overhaul hurt...

Now that is ingenious idea.

I dont see an issue not having a trans dipstick, But i do look under my truck on a regular basis. Ever since the trans lines on my 04 Sierra rotted away, I look under often.

A friend has a 2010 F150, gets it serviced by the dealer, they check trans fluid while up on hoist.
