Sounds like just getting rid of the internals is the cheap way out..... Might be the best way out.

You fellas are to worried over "saving" the DPF muffler. IF, you take the "innards" out of it you can't tell the difference (other than you'll never have to worry about it plugging up) it doesn't smoke any more than it did before, doesn't really make any more noise, it just runs better. I got the idea for doing such from MY DEALER, he did it to his own tractor (3520) the only way to tell is to disassemble the DPF and look inside (who's gonna do that) besides it's an "off road vehicle" and only needed for import and a dealer to sell it new.I plan on keeping mine until one of us is dead so selling or trading it in is a non issue for me and even if I did in 10 years or so do you think tier 4 compliant is going to meet the standards by then. No. But you have to use your own judgement on how necessary it is. That's what I did.
