2015 HST purchase question (problem)

One has to wonder why Mahindra dealers in particular don't opt for indoor or at least shaded storage of these brand new machines. Red is a color that can fade very fast if left in direct sunlight and faded pink is not a very pretty color for a brand new $20K tractor. I have never figured that out.

It would be great if the dealers could all have their machines under cover, but it just isn't cost effective. You might find a few that have (show rooms), but most of their tractors sit outside. Covered space and enclosed space is simply to expensive to have. And we complain about the cost of tractors now, just think of how much more the dealers would have to charge to pay for that extra big building to house all those tractors.

Just how I see things, and I am not a tractor dealer, just a realist.

I'm not suggesting that every Mahindra dealer go rent himself an abandoned automotive complex. I'm a realist too. But look at it this way. How many tractors does the average Mahindra dealer have to keep out front in the sun to attract customers? 5? 6? 7? Higher in the spring? I suppose it depends on how many they expect to sell per month and how fast replacement tractors can be shipped in if needed, but why a fire engine red tractor has to sit in the sun for a year or more until it is a dull pink just doesn't make sense to me. They make cheap sun covers that must be cheaper than the discount they would have to give to get rid of a pink tractor. This pink tractor thing can't be in Mahindra's best interest.

Rusty, I suppose that you may be right. A dealer knows if he sells many tractors, if the dealer only sells a few machines and it usually takes awhile to sell each one, then maybe he should provide some sort of protection for them. But the thing is that the guy that only sells a few can't afford to pay for shade that is required to protect the tractor and the dealer that sells a lot of tractors that can afford the shade doesn't need to because he has a high turnover and his tractors don't sit long enough to fade.

Last year when I was building my garage, there were a few times I wanted to leave the tractor out over night, since it would be digging first thing in the morning. I found that a $39.99 car cover that was designed to fit a Jeep Wrangler fit my 2015 perfectly. It took no more than 2-3 minutes to put the cover on. If there was any dew or bright sun in the morning, at least the tractor was dry and out of the sun until I was ready to work.

I am looking at a friends three year old Mahindra 2015 HST
with front loader and backhoe, also a snowplow. It has 160hrs
He used it to move a lot of stone on his property so the fel is
a little dented. Other than some scratches and scrapes is runs
well. He is asking me to make an offer. I need help .....what
should this be worth approximatly??
