2016 Chevy 2500HD

Nice looking truck. We went shopping yesterday, time to get a new one. Will order a GMC 2500HD SLT with the 6.6 Duramax next week. Everything on the lots we looked at has 20" rims with the sliding rear window. I want the 18" rims and solid rear glass.

Great truck! I just turned 15k on mine. Hwy actually hurts mine. I get 13-14 running 75mph depending on wind. Good thing it has a 36 gal tank! I'm amazed how much cooler the tranny runs vs my 1500.

At least the 2500 6.0L doesn't have the AFM nonsense that has been an issue with the 1500 series engines. It was one of the many factors in selecting my 2015 2500.

I never had any issues or problems with AFM on my last 2 1500's. I would have liked to disable that function just to see if it made a MPG difference or not.

Nice truck.

I sold my 2000 Silverado 1500 and got a new 2015 Silverado 3500hd 6.0 long bed double cab. Had to go with the 3500 over the 2500 mainly because I was tired of the rear sag my 1500 had hauling stuff and wanted to make sure that wasn't happing any more. Just couldn't go with the popular crew cab, standard bed. The crewcab long bed seems to long and was after the bed room anyway.

I've had the AFM disabled on my '14 1500 for about a month and a half and it looks like I lost about 1mpg off my average. I'd imagine it depends heavily on driving style and conditions.

Just had my truck average 26.5mpg on a trip. Ideal conditions empty, no head wind and 60mph. GMC 1500 direct injected 5.3L 4x4 crew cab .

Yeah, driving style accounts for about 1/3 of any mpg change. Numerous studies have shown that. I have followed with interest how this GM DI and AFM stuff has played out. The more I read, the more I am convinced that Scotty was right on one of the Star Trek movies.... the more complicated you make the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain. I need strong dependability and reliability, and the L96 6.0L Vortec has that in spades. I don't really tow much, and when I do, it is relatively light for a 3/4 ton, but I haul a lot and heavy. The 2015 2500 with the 6.0L I have fits my needs very nicely. Will never get in the 26 mpg arena, but it has regularly done 17-18 mpg on road trips in good weather. Not bad overall for a 6.0L moving over 1000 lb more pickup than a 1500.

I went the AFM motor route with a previous 1500. Won't go down that road again.

on your 2016 do you feel a slight sway in the steering almost like you have a low tire? I just bought a 2016 2500HD and drove it on a 250 mile trip and felt like I was constantly having to correct my steering.

I haven't on my '15 with 15k miles. Had a slight shimmy and dealer replaced all 4 tires at 10k, problem solved.

I've only got 500 or so miles on mine (local around town driving) and other than a windy day on the highway I haven't noticed any sway. I did notice sway while doing the test drive and it was due to low pressure in the tires. Dealer aired them to the proper pressure before I picked it up.
