2016 College Football Season and Playoff

Washington is killing Colorado.......Dawgs are going to the playoffs and they are two years ahead of schedule. Peterson is a great coach.....this is the first year he has his own players.....he will have Washington in contention for years. GO DAWGS!!!!.

I didnt make it through the whole game. Being on the east coast, I dont like late games, and they started about a half hour late to boot. Made it til halftime, which was about 11PM my time. Washington looked good though. If nothing else changes today, Bama is gonna have their hands full

That certainly makes a good case Washington is in at this point. At this point if Clemson wins it's going to get real interesting. So conceivably we will have a pair of 1 loss conference champs and an undefeated conference champion in Bama all with a good chance of getting a spot. That's only 1 spot left for the B1G.

If Clemson wins it's going to be really difficult for the B1G to even get 2 teams in, let alone the 3 that some posters suggested was possible.

My guess is Clemson winc convincingly and the committee ends up picking Wisconsin if they win and if PSU wins that means tOSU gets the spot.

Some great teams out there.....just hope the committee does the right thing and puts Washington in the mix.......they deserve to be there and I agree......they will give Alabama a run for their money. Petersen has proven at Boise State......give him a month to prepare.......watch out! Go DAWGS!!!!!

Going to be hard to not put Clemson in the playoff if they keep playing like this all night. I think this is looking more like the B1G only gets one in as opposed to 2 or even 3. My guess is they go with the conference champion Wisconsin.

Some good football last night.

Yep, only 1 Big 10 team will get in with clemson and washington both also winning.

I am unimpressed with clemson though. They really havent impressed me all season. They are just a handful of seconds, points, calls away from being a 7-5 team. Too many close calls IMO. But what matters is that they won. VT almost upset them last nigh.

Washington was dominate against a very good colorado team.

So in light of clemsons struggles, both last night and all season, and washingtons dominance.....IMO, washington should jump clemson in the poles.

So we for sure have BAMA, Clemson, and washington. Now its down to the big 10. PSU or OSU. I think its gonna be OSU. One less loss, stronger metrics, and I truly believe they are the better team based on resume. But I wouldnt be totally upset if PSU got in and OSU dropped out. I just dont want a repeat of last year, where MSU got embarrassed in the playoff and made the Big 10 look bad.

So as of right now, I think the 4 teams are gonna be Bama, OSU, Washington, and Clemson. And if I were casting my vote.....it would be in that order to.

But how is the committee gonna arrange them? Who is gonna have to play who is what its gonna come down to I think.

One could make a case that OSU didnt play in the title and drop them down to the 4th spot? The committee could leave clemson and washington alone. Even though I think washington played alot better last night than clemson.

I don't remember the year, but in the 80's it seems Penn State got the short end of the stick in "rankings" and couldn't play for the national title (prior to a playoff system).

The 4 team playoff system is a step in the right direction, but I thought to myself even when they created it, they didn't leave enough teams in the playoffs, that sooner or later, there would be controversy on which "top 4" teams would be playing for a "national title". If Penn State wins their bowl game, I believe it will make a strong case that more teams should be included in a playoff system.

At the end of the day, college football is more about money than anything else. As I tell my boys, you're life shouldn't suck that bad where your happiness or sorrow is based upon what a sports team is doing that has no affect on your life whatsoever

However, I did stay up late last night (which I never do) to watch the game even after I wanted to give up after the half (even when the Eagles play on Monday night I don't stay up late LOL) Called my dad after the game. Turns out he was sleeping as he didn't want to see Penn State demolished after halftime.

What makes it a tougher decision...

UofM beat PSU
PSU beat tOSU
UofM lost in double OT to tOSU (on a controversial call that could've gone to UofM on that generous 4th down spot by the refs).

Doesn't that scenario make the 4th playoff spot a 3-way decision between UofM, PSU and tOSU?

Unfortunately not that simple.
Osu had the toughest schedule, Better quality wins, more points against opponents.
Underdogs rise to the occasion to attempt to beat better rivals. Which is another argument for Osu.

Ultimately, all three (PSU, Michigan and OSU) belong in the "playoff" IMO.

Hard to argue that the champion of the conference isn't going to the playoffs when two other teams who didn't win the conference are.

Thus... more teams in the playoffs than only 4 allowed.
