We got home tonight and got less then ideal MPG. Then I recalled why that was the case.... Driving in snow, sometimes our highway speeds were in excess of 80 and lots of lots wind. I'll do a more complete report later.

OK, We got 15 to 19 MPG according to the trucks computer. Our math said it was about 1 mile poorer than that, every time we checked it. This was at high speeds and occasionally on snow covered roads (yes we slowed down for that). The wind is almost always blowing in the plains of southern MN and SD. It was 40mph at one point. Sometimes we were traveling higher than 80 mph which is the interstate speed in my home state of SD. Since we driving thought snow, blizzard really, we did lots of warm up time in parking lots which I did not include here.

The rangers engine and its 10 speed trany, has no problem going 80 plus. It is amazing how much power it has. Having so many ponies, I was worried that while on slick roads, it might like to switch ends and found that's not the case. Maybe the 10 speeds moderates that power? This was the 1st trip we'd done with many miles of ice and snow and it rocked on them.....
