2022 Mahindra 1626 HST front Axle locked up

Hi,
I bought a Mahindra 1626 HST in May of 2024. I live In Central NY on the shore of Lake Ontario where we’ve been getting a lot of snow. Last week I was pushing snow around with the bucket, and the front Axle locked up on me. The tractor was in 4wD when this happened. When taking it out of 4WD the back tires would spin, but front remains locked. I have the tractor picked up and brought to the dealer for service, and a few days later the dealer called and the front differential was bone dry. The tractor has 28 hours on it. There has been no noticeable leaks since I’ve owned it, so apparently it came from the factory without fluid in the front differential. Just wondering if anyone else has run into this with a new Mahindra?

It's the dealers responsibility to ensure all fluids are full, and everything greased as part of their pre delivery prep so it's on them or Mahindra directly if they are shipped with oil - I presume they are.

While many will check all fluids and such getting a new machine, it's not on the customer to do this. I would be seeking at minimum a completely new front-end build, gears, seal, bearing replacement or, ideally a new tractor since this is not your issue.

Duh - I didn't read the headline enough to realize it's a 2022 machine, bought used or from dealer? The Mahindra manual says nothing about checking the front dif oil, just change it at 50 hours. If bought used and not from the dealer, it's a messy situation.

They have a 7 yr transferable powertrain warranty.. but something seems off with the OP, 28 hours on a 2022 tractor? More info needed.

I would say the dealer you bought it from will be responsible for fixing it at no cost to you.

I know a guy that bought a brand new John Deere combine, he lived about 5 miles from the dealership, when he got about 4 miles something in the drive line locked up because there wasn’t any lubricant, the road was pretty well blocked for several hours, the dealer had to foot the bill for fixing it.

Thanks for the clarification now it makes sense - as previously written, this is on Mahindra then. It's been a few days - what has happened at the dealer?

I am still waiting to hear back from them. I will update this when I get more info from them.

My 1526 is like 8 or nine years old now. The only thing that was leaking like every 1526 is that valve block on the bottom right side for the loader.
Other than that, zero issues. Even so I have mostly a 1000 pound heavy flail mower with an arm on it.
The 1626 should be very similar to the 1526.
