My current trailer wouldn't fit either so I would have to rent or buy/build a new one. A tandem 3500 would be perfect and reasonably cheep to make. There is a safety factor built into these components so towing 6000-6500 lbs would be no problem.

Ya, 3 range won't do much for me here but I got it for future. :)

I did contact everything attachments about the subsoiler and they seemed to think the 20 will not do it. They do use the cat version of that machine in their demos. I have also seen the subsoiler on a 26hp kubota and it barely clears the ground in the full up position. Yes for most things the 27 is way overkill. I understand it won't be as nimble. As far as storage goes, since the 27 has the quick release bucket it will take up about as much room in my shop with bucket removed as the 20 will with the bucket on.
From my perspective looking at the two machines side by side, the 27 is so much bigger.

My hunch is the 26hp Kubota was a BX, a sub cut. The CK20 is a full size CUT. My take is the CK27 on a half acre lot will be like a bull navigating through a china shop. If your plans are to move to a larger property, that's another story. You'll find lots of uses for a smaller footprint tractor that can navigate around on a small lot.

I still don't understand the difference between a sub cut and a cut.
So you can have a 26hp sub and a 20hp cut???
What is the distinction? Weight?

The sub cut tractors are models like the small BX kubota. Physically they are comparable to a lawn tractor. They are of course more capable but they are limited in what they can do by weight, ground clearance three point and loader lift capacities.......Craig

Because the sub cut is a downsized version of a cut, downsized implements have been designed for the sub cut. You'll see on the King Kutter website they have a section for downsized sub cut sized implements.

The problem is that you lose the range you want the most (mid).

Actually his main concern has been pulling a subsoiler so while midrange is a plus it isn't critical. That said a three range is long overdue on the CK20 and is the #1 upgrade it needs on my list.

I can't thank you all enough for great opinions and debates.
I have ordered the CK27HST With loader and rear remotes.
I will get it Monday. I can't help to think this was the best decision. I am a worry wart and felt although my property is small, the types of ground engaging attachments I am interested in will be better severed by a heavier machine with more HP.

I'm sure I will have a million questions in the coming months.

Cheers.

Hey, congrats. How could you have gone wrong had you picked either tractor.

Good luck and thanks for sharing the news. We like spending other peoples money around here ;-)

Best of luck with that nice CK-27.
