Yanmar YM2210D
Hi,
Just a quick inquiry and hopeful educated opinion needed.

After planning a semi rebuild on the tractor I bought, I have found that the crankshaft is at the replacement limit. I was hoping to do basically top end rebuild. However, this presents a different task. If I have to go new CRANK, then that means complete breakdown, along with new camshaft, all bearings, etc.

The deal breaker crankshaft measurements:
Actual now 2.113 in.
safe range: 2.122-2.124 in.
Replacement at 2.120 in

Is this tractor worth it? Just curious. The tractor is a 2210D and has a working Koyker front bucket, 4WD, PTO,

I appreciate any thoughts.

The real question for you is, is it a deal breaker to have a working tractor in your possession? That is, if you are looking for years of use ahead.

Or is it a deal breaker to restore the tractor's engine with a full overhaul, less the head rebuild, to sell as a 'flip' tractor.

Pre-emission tractors at the moment are commanding higher prices. One that is rebuilt would shine even more, but the typical buyer would like to know if 50 to 100 hours of use is already on the rebuilt engine as a sense of ensuring the work was done right.

Recently, someone else is looking at rebuilding a YM2210. The posting is found on the Yanmar Tractor Owners Group here:
main@yanmar-tractor-owners.groups.io | shop and owners manuals for YM2210

It could be a help to you knowing the info.

As for the crankshaft, I wouldn't know IF the 2T80 (YM2210) and 2T90 (JD650) share the same identical one. Yanmar has done things like that in the past. But to get the cross-reference into the Deere realm of part numbers isn't easy. The last 2 digits of the engine ID is the piston size. Thus, there is a chance the crankshaft 'could be' the same. It would need to be investigated properly.

Thanks, and BTW. Hoye has been a lifesaver in helping with advice and repair options as well as parts. After my latest call, I found that the company has recently been sold and the guy on the phone couldn't even answer the most basic of questions I had. That's why I'm on these forums squirming around for any kind of help!
Another GREAT help is Len Sheaffer. Not only does he know Yanmars inside and out, he's been a key critical parts supplier for decades. Plus, he has the AI Products parts too, a division of John Deere. Thus knowing the Deere side of Yanmar built machines and our YM machines, he's a vital help to us owners.
Sheaffer's Town & Country Tractors Inc. | Dixon, IL

So, if Hoye is loosing ground with their talented people no longer being available, I would go to Sheaffer's and Fredrick's. Tom Fredrick's still does full UTDA tractor restoration to better than new and is the only approved by Yanmar for Gray Market machines in the USA.

Fredricks show CS-2000 195,240,1600,1700,1900,2000,2210 which more Eng's may use it now. I'm sure they have a few.

Thanks guys! The tractor came with three manuals. The pics are not that great, but the parts manual is a help for finding the correct parts and the manual does contain specs/tolerances and torque ranges.

Since I already have purchased quite a bit of rebuild parts, I am looking into crankshaft rebuild options.

Tractors are not normally in my budget. I found this one running for $7.800.00! Most are going for 10-35,000 in my area. The coolant was blacker than night in this tractor when I first got it and checked. I started out with a quick head gasket change, which then became bigger and bigger.

After repairing, servicing, rebuilding motorized vehicles for 40+ years, it's difficult to look at an engine with worn parts and not replace parts to do the best job possible on restoring life to the old tractor!

I had all this ready to go before measuring the crank!
New fully loaded head
Complete gaskets/seals
New injector assemblies
New cylinder sleeves with O Rings
New pistons and rings
New rod bearings (Rods done at machine shop)

I am hoping I can get the crank done cheaper than buying a new one.

IF the manuals are re-prints of re-prints, check the Yanmar Tractor Owners Group and search for a possible cleaner PDF.

I have the Parts Manual here on this site at this poting:

NOTE: there are YM2210 and YM2210B. Make sure your machine is one of the two. There are differences. Yet the engine manual should be the same and is located in this posting.
