2320 - How do i stop this leak

Sort of thinking #25?

That was my first thought.. Then i realized that is a bolt.. My problem is a nut on a stud..

BUT it could be in the area #8 BUT its not shown on the diagram .. that looks like it may be in the correct area (below and to the left of the solenoid..

Gasket (#7) has broached, permitting hydraulic fluid to escape via the bolt hole. Cheap part, expensive repair. Could have been defective since new, and just took some time and pressure to eventually broach. If you're no longer under warranty, I'd first get the tools necessary to remove the nut. Then buy (a) a rubberized crush washer and (b) some oil-resistant sealant. Sealant can be found at most auto parts stores, washer at high performance shop or motorcycle shop.

Apply the sealant, install the washer, crush it down with the hex nut. Remove nut, add lock washer, replace nut.

Thanks everyone.. Several have mentioned a gasket issue that is allowing fluid to escape..

I think I will try 'greg_g' suggestion and see how that works.. Assuming I can get that nut off..

The fluid level is about half a way in the window with the 3pt down..

Luckily the leak is not pouring out.. So I may just have to live with it and keep an eye on the fluid level..

I would also agree with greg_g as a first defense and reasonable to try. Hopefully can do with a socket and flex joint. Before removing, I'd check the torque first to determine if it was just a loose nut. Then after greg-g 's plan, torque to specs.

Will be nice to not have the leak, as they just eat away at you when thinking about your pristine tractor.

Is all the debris under that floorboard from mowing? Would be nice to be able to blow that out (or does it just soak up the oil ? .

I am pretty sure both #'s are referring to the same nut.

that nut holds the center plate to the transaxle case. there is no fluid pressure in that area(unless the case vent is plugged).
I think it might be somewhat common, as I think mine is leaking too.

Yes and no. Perhaps not pump pressure, but hydraulic fluid heats up with use as well. By simple convection, it then heats the air in any voids. Warm air expands, creating it's own pressure. Under these circustances - if there's a weak spot in a gasket - fluid will find it. This is also supported by that the leak doesn't present itself until after the tractor has been running for some time.

yes but it is vented to prevent it from pressurizing and blowing seals/gaskets. with the vent blocked just lowering/ raising the 3pt and or loader can blow seals out.

All that debris is from 300 hr of use - both MMM and rough cutter..

Before I put it all back together I am going to blow all of it off.. I was shocked at how much was around everything.. I need to use the leaf blower under the floorboard way more often that I have (ie never so far).. lol

Still planning my attach of the oozing nut.. Trying to locate a local place to get the rubber crush washer and such before I get too much into it.. BUT I also thought I may run by the JD dealership with the parts diagrams and get their thoughts..

Does anyone see any future issues if I decide to NOT try and repair it? I hate the idea of it leaking, but its so slight I can live with it.. I was really worried that I would find something broken when I got it aparts, its a relief to know that its nothing major..
