are yall doing this right after start up? You want to let the engine stay under 1/2 throttle for the first 5 minutes of operation

Thanks Navasot. No intention to hijack here, but maybe this will help clarify for some. I had another thread going on startup procedure located here:

http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...g/376235-tier-iv-starting-procedure-mcrd.html

Can you weigh in with your knowledge? (Either here or there?) On the 2538 HST, do we really need to turn the key left for a second and let that oil pressure light off before firing on the right? The manual is not completely clear to me and these new engines behave differently than my prior Mitsubishi Tier III in the Max 25. Thanks!

I always turn the key on then wait until the glow plugs stop then after crank I let the second round of glow plug time go off.. then don't run over 1/2 throttle until 5 minutes.. at least that's what the sticker says ha. iv not seen the issue in a 2538 of it degrading itself without codes being thrown... may check to see if your throttle body is actually being moved as much as the lever is...

I was told to turn ignition on and let it sit for 5 seconds to let the computer load prior to starting the engine. Engine will still start without doing this but it is considered a "hard" start. not sure the consequence there. When you turn the ignition on a coil light comes on; I was told from Mahindra that is for cold starts and it is actually heating the air in the manifold so its first breathe is a warm one.

I turn the ignition on, gather a few things, hit the brake with my hand and start the tractor then finish up a few more things and get to work.

That's exactly what its doing but I usually let it run its sequence before starting which by the time you get back its prolly off.. it should take about 30 seconds

My issue occurred after it was warmed up for 30 minutes. After the flash of the ECU, I have zero problems now and it runs like a tractor should. Put 10hrs in it since the fix.

As far as startup, I hit the key for a few seconds to left and then fire away. After it's warm I just crank it over.

I hardly ever used the glow plugs on my F350 unless it was below freezing and even then, it didn't need it until it was below 0 F. The older diesel def needed the full cycle and you could hear it in the engine and see it in the exhaust if you didn't.

Really shouldn't hurt anything to short cycle the glow plugs or not use them unless your motor knocks and you see smoke. Which shouldn't happen anyway unless it's super cold since the glow plugs come on even if you start it immediately.

If you fellas look back I posted about this issue last fall I think it was. I changed fuel filter, looked at air filter etc. If I let the tractor idle at all it did not want to fuel back up. Yes it was cold out. I never really did figure out the problem but it has gone away. Warmer now? I did have a reflash last fall but none since. I may have to see if a new one is out. Thanks guys. Everyone thought I was nuts.
