270 backhoe

That's what happened to me. I want the deeper depth of this hoe, the ability to keep the 3PH on, and especially, the thumb. But if they're not going to deliver on time or within some reasonable time due to a legitimate problem discovered later, don't keep setting and cancelling release dates. That just shows incompetence in managing and decision making, lowers credibility, frustrates the customers, and sends some "would be" customers to competitors -- not smart!

There is a part of me that might consider selling my 46 and upgrading to a 270. I am in no rush though, I will wait and see how other people like it.

Waiting is always a good idea. With all the rescheduling of the release date, it certainly implies that it's taken them time to work the problems out. And there's no reason to believe that they've now gotten it right after so many reschedulings.

My dealer now says June of 2012 -- I have one on order, looks like its going to be awhile yet.

What is list cost? I am curious how much more than a 46 they are going to be.

hey cost i got was about $6000 for the hoe and $250 for the power beyond kit. Then of course there is labor and tax -- sigh.

The latest announcement has the hoe slipping from this month to next. Will this thing ever truly be released?

In the eyes of John Deere, the 270 backhoe is most definitely a mere rock skip across the water of the number and scale of products in development. I wouldn't be surprised if amongst project managers, whoever has this one is relatively junior, being given a small project like this to get their feet wet.

My point is that the release of the 270 backhoe is something exciting to look forward to for us but to Deere, scheduling for something miniscule like a replacement subcompact backhoe likely has to be squeezed in here and there as time allows.

No disrespect intended! Just another perspective to hopefully help minimize disappointment and make the wait less painful.

Instead of getting his feet wet this guy must have drowned! :)

No offense taken, you make a valid point. They're a huge company with a huge product line and this attachment is a very small part of that.

Would you feel the same way if the quality of your tractor was sub-par? I doubt it.

The fact that company said they were going to release it in the summer and still haven't released it almost a summer later, without reason, is a bunch of ... Especially for those that bought that tractor for that very reason of that backhoe. For better or worse, it really burns me because I actually am paying for something I don't have possession of.

And while financially the individual backhoe is cheaper than the bigger commercial grades, as far as the (sub) compact tractor line goes, I wouldn't be too surprised that the amount of revenue generated from those lines pretty closely match the bigger equipment (at least for some dealers, that is their bread and butter). My dealer sold 4 times the 2xxx series last year than they did the 3xxxx or other series of tractors.

So I personally take it as an insult to me when I am not given the same consideration because I am only spending $25k for my tractor and not $200+ k. And normally I wouldn't care, but I have been expecting that backhoe for 9 months now and it has cost me an extra $2000 because it wasn't delivered on time.

Anyone hear anything else about this? Is there going to be a formal announcement?
