270 backhoe

Well my dealer couldn't find any information, so I traded my non-existent backhoe for a set of pallet forks, a 5ft brush hog, a 4 wheeler, box blade and a 6 foot rear blade.

A lot of toys for something I would occasionally use.

Oh well, at least I don't have to wait on it anymore. Good luck all.

Well, I traded my non-existent 270 BH that I already financed for a 6 foot box blade, 6 foot rear blade, a set of pallet forks, a 5 foot brush hog and a 2009 Rubicon 4-wheeler.

After talking with the sales manager, he had contacted his area rep and basically they do not know when they will be releasing the 270. The comment kind of sounded like don't expect it soon or maybe even this year and the rep's suggestion was to offer me a 46 BH or find some other way to appease me.

Heard a serious rumor from a usually accurate source that the 270 backhoe WILL NOT become available for sale because it has been cancelled. No reason given for cancellation. Does anyone know someone at Deere they can check with? My dealer didn't even hear the rumor, so need someone with better connections on the inside to confirm or deny.

Yeah, not exactly good news. The only hope is that my dealer hasn't heard anything like that. Maybe its just a rumor. But my source is normally accurate, so it was important enough to post here and see if someone else has any good contacts to check on the accuracy.

CTtractor you are correct official word from JD is this 270 backhoe project is postponed indefinitely. That's a word I got 2 days ago. Also, mentioned something about additional tractor and backhoe testing along with pricing stagey review. I broke down and just ordered the 46 instead sigh. Quick Attach would have been nice.

Just a recommendation for those with the 46 hoe, do your elbows a favor and move the SMV (slow moving vehicle) sign bracket to the OUTSIDE of the ROPS bar. You will have to drill/cut the SMV bracket a little bit to allow the work light wiring to pass through (first-to-second photos; third photo is completed). This assumes you have the Deere work lights and brush guards, otherwise it is a simple swap.

Also, if you have the Deere work lights and brush guards, move the rear facing work light to the OUTSIDE of the ROPS bar on the underside of the brush guard, as shown in the fourth image. This will require drilling a 5/16" hole in the brush guard and a ~1" long 5/16 hex head screw and a lock nut. You are also most likely going to have to pull out the wiring for the rear facing light and feed it back in on the other side of the ROPS. A snake makes it much easier.

The operator's station on the 46 hoe is already tight enough as it is without having to endure a smashed elbow (which always seems to happen just at the wrong time). I had taken a "before" photo but when I sent the roll of film out for developing :laughing:, the picture didn't come out for some reason.
