Ron - wasn't the screen on the left side of the tractor? I lost my manual but I was thinking that was where the screen was, that I cleaned at 50 hours. The 2nd filter took the place of that screen. I could be wrong. You can tell from my explanation that I really don't understand what all they did. The rep tried to explain it to me, but he lost me early on.

I'm getting pretty frustrated about all the work done on my tractor. The bolt heads paint is knocked off, there's gasket material (that black rubbery stuff) sticking out of the joints. It basically looks like an overhaul has been done of the whole underside of the tractor. Plus, the surfaces on the bottom are covered with hydraulic oil, and it is dripping on the ground. I will look and see if I can figure out where it is coming from, but I know basically zero about tractor hydraulics. Didn't really think I would NEED to know anything about all that stuff to operate the equipment.

What really frustrates me is that they would deliver my tractor with a very obvious leak. Thats not the first time they have delivered it to me with a leak. The last time, it was as fuel leak. I'll call tomorrow and have them come get it. I'm sure the dealer is weary of working on the tractor also.

It sounds like I've had lots of problems with the tractor. This is NOT the case. The only problem is the persistent, heat related steering problem. The only other problems have been leaks caused by attempted fixes to the steering problem. I really haven't lost any work time - I always get the tractor back for the weekend.

My patience is wearing thin. I'm afraid if I start making noise about replacing the tractor (its out of warranty, but the problem started at 55 hours) Kubota will claim I was just trying to get a new tractor all along, and won't try to fix the problem.

I would be very upset if my tractor came back with oil leaks./w3tcompact/icons/mad.gif
I don't know how I would handle this problem. I would try to be calm, and then things would escalate from there. /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif
You may need another dealer?
I'm sure new filter would be on right when setting in tractor seat.
Did you get a chance to use your tractor this weekend?

Alan, the early B2710s have a strainer (or screen) on each side. Another small error in the owner's manual, in my opinion, because it only mentions cleaning the strainer (singular), but if you look at the two illustrations, it clearly shows both. The spin on filter is on the left side. The newer models have a spin on filter on each side.

Hmm.... I musta forgot where the screen(s) were. Anyway, I haven't had a chance to use the tractor other than drive it around a couple of minutes. Parked it and drove to Missouri to see my wife's Dad. When I got back the puddle had reached a pretty sizable size. The Kubota rep gave me his number (which is at my office). I'll call him tomorrow rather than calling the dealer. He told me to call if if there is a problem. I guess there is no manual for my "bastard" tractor.

Hopefully the fix will also apply to the 2410. I called the Kubota rep and he apologized profusely about the leak, said he personally torgued the bolts on the axle housing himself and he and the dealer service manager checked carefully for leaks. He was going to call the dealer and they were going to come get the tractor today.

I checked my notes and found that the new filter IS on the right side, so the picture I posted was of the old filter on the left. Ron and Bird were correct, as I suspected.

Here's a new picture of the right side of the tractor, showing the new filter which is gray. The previous picture didn't show the new filter but the old HST filter.

That’s the one. Both my filters were changed while at dealer. Mechanic always puts date, hours and his initials on filter with a magic marker. A nice touch that I started to use whenever I change any filter./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
What is hose for, just in front of filter? Looks like it may be hanging below frame of tractor. Just might get caught on some thing./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

I wish I had taken a picture before the modification. I don't recall having a hose hanging down like that. Must be a hydraulic line, but it shouldn't be way down there. I'll try to tie it up with some plastic ties.

I can't say for sure, but I think that is the return to reservoir line from your front end loader valve.
