Yes, I too saw that cutter. It is a pure King Kutter copy with all Chinese components. I'm sure many of us will be interested to know how it works for you.

I'm going to have to take a look at their web site and see if they ahve started getting 5 or 6" ones in that was a 4' one and I looked at them they are int he Med to light duty range, but for 300 bucks it would be a savings of nearly 1/2 again if not more! so you could get 2 for one and play all day if you break one swap it out for the other and fix the broken one at you're leasure!...

I've got a 5 foot brush hog already for the 8N, but I figured this would be a cheap way to get a 4 foot one for the TC18. Going over to my dad's and working those hills with the 8N terrify me and I would feel safer doing it with the new tractor with decent brakes, ROPS, and a seat belt!

If anyone has one already. let me know how it works, and I might pick one up myself.

Mark, I don't know if you get the email notices from Homier about local sales, but they are making their rounds around NE Ohio again. They were in Dover last weekend and will be at the Tallmadge Fairgrounds this coming weekend.

I kind of kick myself but tractor supply did have 5' king kutters on sale last fall for $479.00. Two reasons, 1 they were overstocked, and two they were moving to a new location.

Over the years I've learned the hard way a few too many times that someone will always find a way to do something cheaper, but it rarely translates into doing it better. Unfortunately often in ends up that cheaper is more expensive in the long run, especially when time is factored in.

I have too little time to spare. Personally, I'd rather pay a little more and end up with piece of mind. And piece of mind usually means that when I buy something it does not break. At $299 each, I supposed you could buy an extra for spares, but how much time will that cost you to swap the parts? And how much aggrivation?

Me, I'd rather buy good to begin with, and good is subjective, but it starts with a manufacturer who stands behind his products, services them, and has a reputation for desiging them well in the first place. I am sorry to say, but the quality of Homier's goods has been degraded by too many people on this site for me to even consider buying their stuff. Even if money was the ONLY concern, I would still question their stuff simply because I would worry about the cost over the next few years in replacement parts, time lost, productivity lost, etc.

I would be worried about getting parts when it breaks. It seems there are dealers on this site that have reasonably inexpensive cutters, but will also back them up in the future. I don't know if the blades might be obtainable, but the gearbox would be a big concern. I look forward to hearing your results.

I've lost more on what I thought were better investments if it doesn't work for long, so on your end you should be happy as a lark! Just take care of the machine with some respect (no three inch diameter tree's) and you should be fine! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I thought about picking one up for the ONE time I year I MAY need it. In the spring, it's usually pretty wet around here, and if I go too long between mowings.....a bush hog type of mower would be nice. still thinking tho..... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
