Any PT owners out there that have experience with the PT blade?

It occurred to me, after watching Mossroad's short video of blade angling, that using angling with 'roll' would actually enable the blade to be lower or higher on either side, thereby working like a dozer blade within the capability of the tractor to push the material being spread or cut.

Wouldn't this capability make spreading gravel and light dirt leveling and ditch blading easier than trying to use a regular bucket?

I've done FEL grading, but it's not pretty, and involves a LOT of manuevering to get nearly level sometimes.

Thanks!

I have the 60" blade for our PT425. I have never attempted to push anything but snow with it. As for grading... I just don'tt know how it would work. Do they sell a cutting edge for it?

Hi Mossroad--

Yes, according to their price list, there is a steel edge available for an extra $100 for the the blade for that purpose.

I'm thinking that if the blade is 'rolled' forward, for example, and also angled to the LEFT so the the RIGHT end of the blade is out in front that that RIGHT end of the blade will be lower.

Seems like that's how the geometry would work.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, that is how the geometry works.

I have actually used the snow blade as you described. I have a drainage ditch that was torn up by driving the PT422 on it. I was able to angle the blade and smoothed out the dirt on both sides of the ditch in two separate passes, one for each side. The slopes were shallow and the ground was very soft. I am not sure how this would work on hard dirt or gravel. It did leave a neat path.

Borgford Design markets their Bo Dozer six way blade based on this principal. This seams to work well for a limited amount of tilt as long as you can deal with the blade angled a little.
